KIARA LEWIS
Kiara groaned and shifted. Her head felt like it was about to explode, her lungs were burning, and to top it all off something was licking her face. With another groan she swatted Scruffy away and opened her eyes. Almost instantly, she squeezed them close again as the light sent daggers of pain through her already aching head. Alright, note to self: Light hurts. Be careful when opening eyes. She thought dryly. This time, it was with a great deal more care that she opened her eyes and looked around slowly. Where was she? She felt disoriented and her body ached as if she'd just been hit by a freaking battering ram. Scruffy yipped and pawed at her shoulder impatiently and she carefully rose into a sitting position. Her head swam and she feared she would faint but after several moments the feeling passed and the spots disappeared from her vision. "Où suis-je?" She mumbled, then remembering herself switched to English. "Where am I?" She wondered aloud, glancing at the mutt beside her as if he could give her a clue. Scruffy barked and wagged his tail in reply. "Great and now I'm talking to a dog." She muttered with a shake of her head.
Rising slowly, she looked around expecting to spot her brother Kovu on the beach nearby. She imly remembered the storm, the announcement, and the ship sinking. She remembered there being no time to get to the life rafts. Her mother and father had been having dinner on an adult only deck leaving Kiara to watch her little brother Kovu. Scruffy had been in the kennels an Kovu had insisted on retrieving the mutt. The only reason Kiara hadn't argued was because the tiny little dog had gotten her through some tough times and she loved him dearly. She struggled to remember more. They had gotten the dogs and received two flotation devices, but Kiara had put hers on the dog and the other on Ben leaving her without one. Then they'd all jumped in the water and she couldn't remember anything else. So how had she gotten to shore? She couldn't swim, that was for sure. She had never bothered to learn. That was the reason why she'd been so reluctant to go on the cruise. Kovu could swim, but surely he hadn't been strong enough to hold her up above the water. He had a flotation device but he was only six! She wracked her brain but couldn't come up with a logical explanation. And then, all thoughs of how she'd survived no longer mattered because suddenly, she realized that Kovu was no where to be seen. Her little brother was gone!
KOVU LEWIS
Kovu scowled down at the cut on his knee, pressing his lips together. He hated blood, but he didn't have anything to wipe it off with either. Choosing to pretend the cut wasn't there, he decided to focus on what was really important. Glancing around the thick jungle he frowned, uncertain about how to deal with his current predicament. He was stranded in the middle of a jungle all alone. What would Kiara do? He wondered to himself wishing his big sister were there. She always knew what to do in situations like this one. "Kiara would probably say to stay put and wait for help to come." He told himself out loud. But he couldn't do that. He was lost in a jungle for Pete's Sake! There could be wild animals out to get him. So, like any intelligent little boy he began to walk. And walk. And walk some more. Eventually Kovu gave up with a sigh. He'd just walked in circles about twenty times. "HELP! Is anybody out there!?" He shouted, hoping his last resort worked and that somebody close by would hear him.
RIP JAZZY <3
Approximately one year ago, I woke up and said my final goodbyes to the best friend I have ever known. But Jasmine wasn't a human. No... Jasmine was a little tabby cat who showed me the true meaning of unconditional love. She was my muse and because of her, I still write today. RIP Jasmine Veronica. You have been missed terribly, even if we only had two years together and I will always remember you.
