I shrugged, cracking a smile as he went on to his story. "I was always pretty soft spoken, too, I guess," I said thoughtfully as I stared up at the ceiling as I tried to remember a good story that I wanted to tell Ed. "Okay, here's a good one," I finally said after a minute of silence. I propped myself up on my elbow, getting ready to tell him my story. "When I was no older than maybe 3 or 4, my older cousin had these cheap glue-on acrylic nails that she'd gotten for Christmas or something. She accidentally left the glue out, and, of course, I find my way into it. I had glue all over. I mean, my fingers were glued together, one of my hands was stuck to my face, and I got it in my hair and even my eyelashes." I let out a small laugh, remembering the time my mother had filled me in on that story. "The end," I added on conclusively, letting him know I was done.
