High School

The site of ambition for incoming freshmen and the scene of desperation for outgoing seniors. High school truly is the social definition for the youthful adolescent as they are faced with the decisions with what path to take toward adulthood. Some decide to immerse themselves in the thick of things, commanding all attention and drama. Others consider themselves social survivors, withdrawing into their own world of sensuality. Though high school is the epitome of human drama, it is also the reflection of each individual personality, blended into the ocean of faces that we encounter with every passing day. How will you embrace the opportunities? Will you be a survivor?

Rules & Regulations

All characters with high ranks must be active.

- It is preferred by all members that you remain as active as possible. However, characters with higher ranks are required to be present for Role Playing as often as possible, ideally at least once every two days.

- Any character that has been absent from their rank for more than one week without informing me will be placed under evaluation and may be removed at my word if I so desire.

Minimal swearing is allowed.

- Everyone is free to express themselves, however, try to limit your use of mild profanity to a minimum as there may be other members that are younger than you are and we don't want anyone to feel uncomfortable while Role Playing on this site.

Please use as many details as possible when Role Playing.

- You don't have to be a great writer to fully enjoy the experience of Role Play. When writing out a scene, for your benefit as well as others, try to use as much literary description as possible to better enhance the visual scene being played out before you without being inappropriate.

- There is not a minimum number of sentences that must be met, but members are encouraged to write as much as they can to assist their fellow Role Players.

Major events must first be cleared by me.

- Drama is the catalyst for any kind of plot and keeps things new and exciting. If you happen to have an idea about how to stimulate plot twists while Role Playing, you must first clear your idea with me.

- Your idea must be approved before being initiated into Role Play.

During the first day of your membership, only one character will be allowed.

- As you first begin to Role Play with us and become accustomed to our community, it is appropriate to commit yourself entirely to 1 character. This is so your attention is not divided by too many characters too quickly.

- We of the Role Playing community advise members to slowly adopt new characters as plots develop so that each character is equally established.

- There is no maximum number of characters permitted to one member, however, we urge members to recognize their own limit to prevent them from being overwhelmed.

Respect other members and their characters.

- Be kind and courteous to others. Remember that the origin of this thread was created based upon the fun of Role Playing and that out-of-character arguments deter away from this goal. I will enforce this rule when appropriate. Bullying in any form is absolutely prohibited and may result in your permanent ban from the site.

- Absolutely no sharing of personal information. There are few exceptions to this rule, such as giving your first name only, but you may not share your age or location with anyone on this site. This is enforced for the safety of our members.

- No "God Modding". This means that you are not allowed to Role Play someone else's character without their owner's permission. This often occurs during fighting scenes where members try to manipulate the other's character so that theirs is the dominate one. Remember, no character is perfect, and you are going to have to let your character lose some battles to win some. If a member gives you permission to kill their character, you may do so.

- When choosing a name for your character, try not to pick one that has already been taken by another member or one that does not make sense or is offensive.

Please be realistic.

- Don't choose names or descriptions for your characters that don't make any logical sense.

- I will decide whether or not your Role Playing seems overdramatic or unrealistic and will inform you if it is.

No explicit details.

- This includes sexual references or description of birth. You may vaguely describe what is occurring, but try not to explore literature's "darkest corners" for the sake of your fellow members and the sanity of the owner.

Tour of the Campus

"Westbank High School is a very prestigious boarding school located in northern California. However, not all students have to live on campus. Pets are allowed in the dormitories on the responsibility of the owner. The school is funded by alumni donators, providing the campus with very elite facilities. The weather is very mild, but sometimes the winters can get severe snowstorms. Thunderstorms are uncommon, but happen every now and then. Westbank is famous for its athletic programs, but is equally championed for its academic success. The Westbank mascot is the wolf and their colors are silver and blue."

Populars

Not all populars are stuck-up or bullies. Though many of them have been pegged as arrogant and stand-offish, some are actually just well-known for their sense of humor or leadership in other roles, such as Class President, or the leader of a club. These are the people that are the first to be written down on the contact list to a party.

Skaters

Skaters are mysterious. They tend to have casual, carefree attitudes. Some are secretly good students, others don't care enough to do any of their schoolwork. They can be seen riding about town, minding their own business, living the independent life.

Athletes

Athletes come in a variety of social statuses. Some, like the football players, are popular and idolized for their masculinity, while others' physical feats are hardly ever recognized, yet their hard work and relentless commitment to their sports demands a minimal amount of respect and admiration for what they do.

Nerds

Not all nerds are your classic chess-playing losers who get slammed into lockers every day. Nerds can be classified as hard-working students who truly want to get into a good college and make something of themselves. This includes the quiet ones who are too shy to expose themselves to the social aspects of high school. These are the students branded for success.

Goths

Goths are very mysterious people. They tend to keep to themselves, yet their appearance demands attention. They are often seen alone or with a group, listening to music, and dressed in dark attire.

Normals

Normals are students who don't fall into their own category, but still hone the personality traits and qualities that shape them as an individual. Perhaps as time goes on, they will find their own paths and switch ranks.

Kickoff to the New Year

By Luca Austin Warner

The summer is drawing to an end and there are some new faces among the familiar crowd. We are less than a week into the new school year and the incoming freshmen are still wandering around the campus with that starstruck gaze while the upper classmen stalk them with hungry intentions. We welcome some new members to our staff, including a fresh new assistant football coach, Coach Riley and an international Spanish instructor, Señora Romero. The students are slowly coming off of that "first day of school" high and are slipping into the daily routine. Most of the students have already settled into their dorm rooms and official lockers have been assigned. This upcoming school year is looking bright for the future of the Wolves. Here's to another great school year!

Back to School Jungle Dance

By Luca Austin Warner

At the end of the week, on Friday night, Westbank will be hosting our annual Jungle Dance to kick off the new school year. This year it will be held by the pond, so plan your wild wardrobe (and maybe a swim suit underneath, just in case some of the seniors get rowdy) and have a great time. Tickets will be sold at lunch in the quad for $5.

Name
"My name is Luca Austin Warner. I was named after my great grandfather, Austin, who was championed as one of the best lawyers in our county. I am proud to bear the Warner family name."
Age
"I am 17 years old, my birthday being in mid-January. I am a senior in high school with my sights set on college."
Rank
"I am a total athlete. I swim four hours a day, five hours in the summer. I'm the captain of the swim team as well as president of Key Club and editor-in-chief of the school newspaper. I also work at the pool as a coach of the club kids and teaching younger children how to swim. I literally live at the pool and take my swimming very seriously."
Family
"My mother is a family physician, so I have some associative extensive medical knowledge. My father has followed in the footsteps of my grandfather and great grandfather as a corporate attorney. He is always pressuring me to major in business management and to go to law school. This often leads to disagreements, which inhibits our relationship. I have a younger sister, Emily, who is just starting junior high school. My parents are divorced, so my sister lives with my mother about 40 miles away from us. My sister and I are very close and keep in touch through phone and email. I also have a dog named Mange. He is a black lab, golden retriever mix."
Closest Friends
"I have made many friends in my lifetime, especially among the swimming community, but I haven't found a single companion to call my closest friend."
Crush
"I'm not really sure how I feel yet, but I feel very at ease with Allie."
Relationship
"I am bound by no responsibilities affiliated with love."
Personality
"What can I say? I am fiercely loyal to my friends. I tend to be a little overprotective, however, which has sometimes led to my being quick to anger when confronting a situation involving the possible threat to my friends' safety. However, most of the time I am a happy-go-lucky soul who loves to laugh. I believe that humor is the best escape from reality. I feel that it is my duty to make others smile. I try to be very polite and respectful to everyone I meet, especially those who are my senior. Some people tend to think that I play hard to get, but that is not it at all. I don't really understand my own feelings and I'm better at casual friendships than serious relationships. I can be intimate and share a close bond with someone, but I am not as skilled at taking things to the next step. I can love a girl and she might never know it. Sometimes, I can be awfully quiet. I don't mean to be, it's just part of my writer's intuition. Because of this, I'm incredibly observant and sometimes this leads to small periods of thought for me. I love company just as much as the next guy, but sometimes when I feel sentimental, I prefer to be alone with my thoughts until they're sorted out. This is the part of writing that clarifies me. I don't share the same interests in business or law like my father. I have a passion for writing and I'm really good at it. I find that words come really easy to me and this skill goes hand-in-hand with my swimming. I prefer creative writing, but I'm also editor-in-chief of the school newspaper and am also very interested in the Associated Press. I would much rather pursue a career in media than law or business. I have a wonderful way with children, probably because I am still a kid at heart, but I also love to chat with the elders. I am extremely athletic, because my training means almost everything to me. I love the feeling of being in shape and challenging myself, even if that means training alone. However, sometimes my commitment and devotion to training leaves me blind to my own health or condition and I am not the best at communicating when I am injured or sick. Like any other student athlete, I have ambitions, but I try to keep my team's best interests at heart and put them above everything else, including myself. But I do want to be the very best swimmer that I can possibly be. I would protect and defend my team, against all personal cost, including my life. I don't want my coach to be afraid of pushing me. I want the challenge. I welcome it. I want to push past my limitations, test my willpower, exceed my expectations and potential. You can see that I have given this a lot of thought. But I don't want to be like any other student athlete. I want to quench my personal thirst to succeed. I want to train. Hard. Harder than any other athlete. I crave the challenge and I'm willing to work harder than anybody else. This is what makes me who I am. These are the laws and commandments that I live by."
History
"Unlike some of my peers, my childhood was not too difficult. Sure, it was hard to manage my parent's divorce when I was only seven, but I didn't let it define me. However, I do regret the lack of closeness that I used to share with my father. It started when I entered junior high and my father pressed me to start studying for my SAT's and plan out my path to law school. I was only eleven. It was too much too early. We began to disagree. He and I hung out less and less. I was starting to feel lonely, until my mother helped put me back on track. She bought me a puppy, Mange, who would be partner in crime. She signed me up for the swim team and sucked me into the powerful gravitational pull that was the sport of swimming. My father always saw swimming as nothing more than a tool to my path to success, but I saw swimming as my passion, my ambition. When I'm tired or stressed or angry about something, swimming would always temper my spirit. Swimming truly is my clarity and that is what I have let define me."

Appearance
Luca is in phenomenal shape for his age. He is 6'3" and 190 lbs. He has broad, sloping shoulders and skin that has been touched relentlessly by the sun, day by day. He possesses brilliantly bright eyes that reflect sunlight, sometimes giving them a dazzling quality. Unlike most athletes, Luca is not overly muscular. He has a long, lanky torso and harbors a strength that is not always visible on his exterior. He is more toned with smoother transitions to his muscles than jocks with huge limbs and frighteningly cut bodies.

Luca emerged from the locker rooms in a cloud of steam from the showers, his wet hair combed back. His towel was strung over his shoulder, dampening his clothes, but he didn't mind the feeling of being wet. At least, he had better not. He was an elite swimmer, after all, and this was his element. His passion and commitment to the sport was definitely one that would be hard to match. He glanced at the clock on the wall above the pool, noting the time, and scowling to himself. He had intended to speak with Coach Amber about their practice before he headed off to class, but that would simply be cutting it too close. Besides, he had practice later that afternoon, so he would speak to her then. He raised his hand in a friendly wave to her from across the pool as he departed the aquatic center, the sun beating down on his back until he briskly entered the building and made his way up the stairs to his locker. His fingers clumsily fumbled with the combination lock, but he managed to open his locker and pull out his Chemistry textbook, throw in his towel, and shut it before the 5 minute bell rang. He entered his classroom in a relaxed, casual manner until he took his regular seat by the window, sliding out his homework from one of the pages. He ran a hand through his damp hair, his eyes on the board as he read the procedures that they would conduct that day.
