OWEN WEELER

-- --

voice of reason

---- some things take time

------- owen awoke to the sound of leaves rustling in the early autumn morning, a chill from the season arcing down his back. tough as it was, living the life of a wolverine, he understood why they did it; owen and waverly and gail and ruthie and savannah and all the others did it because they wanted their home back. they wanted to fight for it. they were willing to fight for it. and day after day after day, they did, surviving in a little mountain cave one of the group members' found, formulating how to drive the koreans back to where they came from.
------- he sat up, and when looking around, he noticed a few others missing or awake and preparing. holden looked ticked, whereas gail looked cold and determined. they knew something and the marine didn't like it.
------- and then it was revealed.
------- they were to shoot and kill korean soldiers they led on just for their weapons and ammunition. the thought disgusted owen -- they could just get it from a store, where nobody would be risking their life. especially masie! the anger bubbled for a few moments before it really sunk in. if gail and holden thought that it was necessary [though holden didn't want to use his younger sister as -- well there is no kinder way to put it -- bait] then he would help. owen's anger extinguished itself and made room for a calmer emotion [though not by much], worry. if masie was going to attract the Korean's attention, something could go wrong. who said they would just chase her, and not gun her down? or if the ground group -- which he was still mulling over how on earth he got to be one of the close-range shooters instead of sitting on the rooftops -- opened fire too soon and accidentally killed her? it would be the end of Holden, for sure. owen had to ask.
------- it seemed hudson got to gail first. he demanded answers in a less than flattering way, and owen was certain this would rouse a vicious response from an impatient gail, but he also wanted to know. "i'm rather curious too, gail," owen said quietly. "i trust your judgment -- you have kept all of us alive for such a long time -- but i can't help but think a better fighter should be on the ground in case something goes wrong with masie's end and she needs to be saved." owen knew it wouldn't be masie to screw up, but the koreans to open fire. they were a vicious lot, considering they invaded their homeland. he didn't want to risk anything.

GAIL SAXON ➤ post two

Postby indefinite, » Thu Aug 01, 2013 3:32 pm

gail s.
a warrior when times get hopeless.
↡ ↡ ↡
THE ALPHA
━━━ ━━━
gail was the type of person who had been
through so much already that there wasn't
much more that she could take. she was a
beaten and battered girl. she's never been
one to take kindly to pity. in fact she hates
it. she gets frustrated very easily, but
even when she's not she's very vocal and
will say just what's on her mind. however
you know you can always expect honesty.
she's a sad girl who can't trust herself or
very many people, but when she does you
are getting past her tough exterior and you
soon find that bubbly, sarcastic, fun girl
beneath it all. she's a fighter. she's cautious,
yet threatening with her ways of going about
things. however she's protective over the ones
she loves and observant. she's a good leader.

-----gail flashed a forced smile at graham, ruffling his hair once more before turning to follow holden out of the cave and to town. but she was stopped by hudson, rage flashing in his chocolate brown eyes, and she mimicked it just as well, hazel eyes aflame. she should have cut him some slack. they were alike in many ways when it came to their anger, except that gail knew how to control it better than hudson did. she didn't get worked up over the slightest things, but that was probably because she had thicker skin. for him, he got angered over everything. it was a weird way of handling his sensitivity over not being included. naturally, she would have ignored hudson and moved on; who cared if he didn't agree with her plan? but it was when owen spoke up as well that gail figured, maybe the others were questioning her too and just didn't have as lack of sense as hudson did to say what was on his mind. and again, she would have just ignored them all because she couldn't care about their opinions, she didn't care about anyone's really except herself, but now her actions didn't affect just her life, but now all of theirs as well. they had the right to know why she chose things the way and she was thankful owen helped her to realize that.
-----turning around, her eyebrows burrowed together like they were looking for warmth. she spoke to hudson first. "because you're less likely to screw things up if your on the roof with me." she gave him a brief, closed lip smile, but it wasn't for pleasure, more like sarcasm. she shouldn't have said it so harshly like that, but she kept to her normal, blunt and honest characteristics. now she set her gaze upon owen who had come up next to her. "i don't need a better fighter down below. i need a quick, rational thinker. there is no fighting involved in this ambush, just good aim and people who know when the perfect time it is to open fire." her eyes softened. she couldn't keep up the same snippy attitude with owen that she had with hudson. granted, both were younger than her, but she saw owen much, much higher in the gang than she saw hudson. that was unfair for him, because he was an excellent, excellent fighter. but war wasn't just about fighting. "nothing will go wrong on masie's end. she's the best suited for the job, the quickest, the most innocent looking, the youngest. during her chase they wont open fire on her. it's not in the north koreans' nature to chase down and shoot, just ours." and it was a sad fact. "follow holden everybody."

holden paley
-------------мαrιɴeѕ doɴ'т dιe. тнey jυѕт ɢo dowɴ тo нell αɴd reɢroυp.
holden paley is a force to be reckoned with.
he's rugged and tough and trust me when i
say he's seen it all. he's used to war and no
peace. he's a soldier who came home from
iraq a week before the invasion. holden isn't
very good at showing emotion or compassion.
it's very hard for him, but there is a good guy
beneath all of it. dig.

specialty;; tactical leadership,
hand-to-hand combat.

location;; the alleyway.
doing;; leading.
mood;; alert, focused.
tagged;; his team via action,
masie via thought.

occ;; sorry for my lateness!
i'll have his post up as soon as i can.
_________________________________________

------->the morning fog draped holden and his team as they trekked silently into the city. his lithe movements were that to be expected of someone with his stealth training, and something he required be imitated by the other wolverines. he glanced to his left, briefly locking eyes graham. as gail's kin and the only real source of comic relief in their rebel group, holden felt extra incentive to protect him. the jokester was also the best at reading body language, besides himself of course, which was a very positive and rare skill to posses. thats why holden deemed graham his second in command this ambush. he needed an extra pair of eyes who knew what to look for as they made their way to the ambush alleyway. waverly followed closely behind graham and foster taking up the left-side rear. holden turned his head to check his right. from front to back it was, savannah, owen, and noretta. holden could tell the huntress had been just a bit flustered with the spot she got, as usually noretta was the marine's right hand man, er, woman. ideally it would have been hudson securing the flank, but with him on the roof at gail's side he was forced to tweak the usual arrangements, and noretta was the next best suited for the very important job. oh, the troubles one has to deal with being the best at what they do.
------->the wolverines made their way to the ambush spot within the hour. holden halted his team by raising a fist in the air before peering around the corner into the alleyway. he retracted back defensively in the same breath. seconds later a line of twenty north korean soldiers marched out of the gap between the buildings, only one hundred yards away from them. thank god for the shadows cast by the morning sun that camouflaged them against the grunge wall. holden did not breath again until all the soldiers had passed. after a quick double-check he signaled 'continue on' to his team and hustled into the alley. ten feet from the corner they rounded sat one of the many stacks of camouflaged tarps gail and he had scattered all over the city. he motioned for each team member to take one as he himself crouched in the center of the alleyway and threw it over his back. he was not to take full position before he knew each person had the proper camo they needed for the ambush.
