Alex had awoken before the sun, unable to sleep in such a strange place, despite having insisted she and her slob of a brother shared a room until they were more comfortable within the small colony of adolescents. It wasn't her first sleepless night in a strange place, and she faced the probability that it wouldn't be her last. Alex had slept in her clothes, leather jacket and all, with the fear that they would have to move on in the dead of night. She watched Zeke for a few moments before retrieving a small, sleepy sugar glider from Zeke's side of the room, and an elderly chocolate lab that slept at the foot of her bed. Pulling on a hat and an old pair of sneakers, she slipped into the hallway with 'Wifi', her fuzzy marsupial perched atop her head, and Toby, the sleepy brown dog never straying far from her side. She wandered down the halls, surveying the building and all possible exits before following the sounds of her new acquaintances to the kitchen.

Having been awoken by the creak of their closing bedroom door, Zeke jumped to his feet, doing a quick search of the room for his twin sister. He laid his hand on her bed to feel her lingering body heat and let out a breath of relief as he noticed her furry body guards were missing as well. He relaxed for a moment before hurrying to make himself look presentable. The realization had hit him like a bus. Alex hadn't been able to follow through with every step of her morning routine, which always put her on edge, and the colony didn't yet know of her idiosyncrasies. He put on a fresh grey suit and tucked two bottles of prescription pills into his vest before setting his fedora atop his head and straightening his neatly pressed red tie. When he was finished, he strode purposefully down the halls until finding his sister in the kitchen with the others.
