Nick reclined against the tree in the park near his house. The sun was shining and the sound of laughter rang through the streets. He let out a comfortable sigh. The only thing wrong with this summer day was that Lyla was not with him. He picked up his phone, hesitating to text her.


Drew kicked up his feet on the arm of the couch and picked up the Xbox controller. He loved the summer days when you could just sit around. He stretched, yawned, and got up to slide a disk into the console.


Rayven sat outside, quietly observing the world around her. She inhaled the clean Summer air deeply. No school today, she thought happily.

Enza looked both ways before crossing the street. Once safely across she slipped into an alley way between her favorite bookstore and favorite diner. The alley was dark and grey, but once she reached the other side it was like a fairytale. There was a small pond with a big willow growing by the side and under the willow was a bench. All it was missing were the unicorns. Enza sat down on the bench and watched fish swim around and the frogs hopping at the flies.

Rayven stepped off of her porch. Aimlessly, she wandered down the newly paved streets. She hadn't lived in the city or long, so she turned random corners, passing unfamiliar houses and twisting down alleyways.She turned onto a narrow street. The boulevard was lined with trees and the houses all had neatly trimmed lawns. Rayven passed a narrow alleyway. Suddenly, she moved backward a few paces to stand directly in the mouth of the shadowy alley. Somehow the darkness tempted her, and she impulsively stepped in. Walking down, she got to the end of the alley. It opened up to a huge meadow. "Wow,"she murmured, stepping instantly onto the grass. She saw somebody sitting in the grass and called out to her. "Uh....hello!"

Enza jumped when she heard a voice. Whipping around she saw it was another girl, at the entrance. " Hi." Enza said cautiously, coming forward. " Um, sorry for not being more welcome, im not used to people being here." she said and then gave a short smile. " You don't look familiar, are you new?" Enza asked.
