{{ well... this is crap. please forgive
me for the awful starting post?? }}
The brunette fiddled nervously with her hair as she walked into the common room, quickly stopping the nervous habit as she realised it was already full with her fellow students. Spring break had given most of them a tan and all of them looked refreshed - even if some did still look moody. Adjusting the strap of her bag on her shoulder, Athena's eyes scanned the room trying to spot a friend. She was rewarded with a room void of Arizona, Adrian or Jason, as far as she could see. Instead she spotted Soren. He was friends with Logan and guessing if he was there Logan couldn't be too far off, Athena waved at him. His eyes looked tired but the fact that he was good looking was not fogged by the bloodshot eyes.

Walking over she then spotted Logan, standing hidden behind his friend. Her smile grew wider at the sight of her crush but she kept it under control, used to keeping her emotions hidden. Especially since her family run out of money last semester to keep her at Franklyn and she had to turn to scholarship. She'd only told one person - Jason - that and keeping up the pretense that her home life was alright sometimes got the better of her. At least no one knows about that; or the divorce, Athena thought as she stopped besides the two boys. "Hiya," Almost hesitant about speaking to them, she made sure her tone didn't portray any of this. She had no reason to be nervous though - after all, she was friends with Logan and Soren had never done anything but make her laugh. "You guys have a good break?"

Spring break had been hell; though he’d be telling everyone the exact opposite. He’d make up something fantastic – oh, what about a cruise that his father ordered specifically for his family? Or what about a trip to Europe, Africa, and all the good places? It needed to be something that would blow everyone away, and that made them envious to be him. In truth he had spent most of his time avoiding his drunken father. People from his hometown knew him as that trashy kid whose father was a booze-hound, but when he was outside of it he was the rich kid that no one knew outside of school. He spent all his money on clothes to make sure that he looked the part. When asked about further details he went with the story that his father was a brain surgeon and made top line money. His mother was an unknown actress that played in a lot of movies and had little to no time at home with her lovebird father, and her loving son. But his mum – well... he didn’t know. She left one night when Caesar was just a little boy, and he had no memory of her. He never asked his father about it, as he knew no good would come from it. He hated the thought of his mother, and so Caesar would never ask.

Walking the senior kept his head up, holding up a diligent and confident look. Anyone who looked at him would think that he was on top of the world, while in his head he was begging that no one would notice that he was wearing clothes that he had before. Rich kids never reused clothes, oh well; he’d just say he was protecting the environment or something. Yeah, that’d work. Coming into the common room he noticed that many people were already here. “Hello all!” He said, raising his hands in a victorious arc. “Who missed me?” There was a wolfish grin on his face that probably looked like he was some kind of demented pervert. Of course he was not quite up on keeping his ‘cool’ image, as the time he spent wiping up his father’s stinky vomit had removed all his previous knowledge from his head. All he knew was that he was slick, and there was no way that he would be able to be seen as ‘un-cool’.

Of course he was trying to impress everyone, and there were a lot of people here that he didn’t like. Few of which he’d go as far as even saying that he hated, though those were only few in number. He sometimes thought that he heard people call him a jerk behind his back, though he figured that he must be hearing things. How could someone not love someone like him? Well... There was father, who could care less about his son; but that didn’t count. He didn’t care much for his father either (a lie that he was telling himself. In fact Caesar longed for attention from his father, and wished that he paid more attention to him than his whiskey). Caesar would never realize this though, well – at least not for a long while yet, at the moment he was convinced that he didn’t need attention from his father, and that getting love from him was not something that he required.

Caesar was complex like that, when someone looked at him, you might just think “oh there’s that sports lunatic who probably makes love to his reflection”. But Caesar was much more than that, it was just something – or someone that he had invented to keep his true self at bay. Coming out as a kid with a rough home life and who seriously had no one (other than himself) to love him was not something that he was even considering doing. What madness! No, for now he’d remain as he always was.

A ghost of someone that he was not.

The fiery redhead entered the common room, shouldering her backpack as she did so. While her gait was casual and confident as it always was, but in reality she was quite nervous. She had just returned from spring break, which hadn't really been all that eventful, considering her parents were never really around so no "family trips" or "family activities" that most happy high schoolers got were available for her. It was something that she never really liked to talk about, and she hid the darker points of her life beneath a mask of trouble-making and rebellion. That was all anyone ever knew her by, was her attitude and mouth.

Naturally she gravitated over to her friends, as she was not the first in the common room. The ones in question here were Ariana, Danielle, Kailey, Jace, and Seth. This bunch was composed of the only ones who could really tolerate her personality enough to hang out with her regularly. Really it was quite a miracle she had this many friends. In fact, it was ironic that she was friendly with the twin of her just about nemesis Reagan. But really, not many people could stand that girl, and Shayna really wasn't one of them.

"How are all of you doing?" she murmured, a gentle accent laced into the words that were escaping her lips. It was always awkward after breaks to meet back up with her friends because unlike them, she did not like openly sharing how her time away from them actually went. She then grinned deviously. "It's good to be back in this madhouse, eh?" Good ol' Shayna.

for the entire saga days of the holiday, the teen' had been missing school; not the actual school, he loathed it — and, to be frank, wished it wasn't there. to some extent — but the people there. the ecstatic kid had taken the journey to school solo, ignoring his brother. after all, why would zeke the awesome want to be seen out with seth the lame? precisely. he wouldn't.
so seth smiled at shayna as she spoke, replying with a confident; "how am i doing in this mad-house? well.. i'm mad about it. and also slightly crazy." he'd tried to spin her words, but as soon as the phrase had escaped his lips, he cringed. "wrong words, seth. wrong words.." — then he added, as subtly as he could; "so... my lame 'welcome back' aside, how are you, shayna?"
then he noticed arizona — nicknamed ari by seth — and yearned to excuse himself to talk. but then he understood he couldn't speak to everyone and shut himself up, literally biting his tongue. "ow!" seth yelped, hands darting to his jaw.

i'm sorry about the lame post. it's fifteen minutes past midnight in england and i'm hatin' it.

❝ The best things in the world are beer and art.
You can never go wrong with them. ❞
Soren couldn't be bothered to wear something nice this morning. Last night, in an attempt to rid of the horrid feeling of going to school the next day, Soren had gone to a party and drowned himself in his favorite drink: beer. He'd drink wine and all that jazz too, but beer was his favorite; mainly because it was cheap and not too horrid tasting. It did it's job. And although beer has a high carbohydrate level, Soren's quick metabolism keeps him in good shape. But although this decision seemed good at the time, now at school, when his head hurt and his red eyes were heavy and foggy, he sort of hoped he hadn't gone. But alas, this was Soren Alchezo, and this boy had no regrets. He'd go on with life. He was a go-with-the-flow, laid-back kind of guy; one that would never plan out who would do what for a group project. He just always knew the puzzles pieces would find their way to make the big picture.

Soren had relaxed over spring break. He'd gone down to the Galapagos Islands to view the nature and wilderness and become inspired to paint and do his usual artwork. Once he'd returned, Soren had painted several magnificent pieces. He made several paintings of different animals, creating a compilation over over 25 paintings. He'd painted several small squares to hand out to friends, family, and his two favorite teachers. One of a colorful bird watching over her next was in his hand as he walked into the room. His vision was alright, a bit blurred at the edges if anything, but he wasn't too hungover. That cotton-ball flavor in the back of his throat bothered him a little, but he was fine. Then, his friend Athena came up to him, asking him about his spring break. Athena was that perfect student in Soren's mind: the one that is steady with her work and great academically, and not too shabby socially either. A decent balance.

"Hey Athena," said Soren, his words ever so slightly slurred. He stuck his free hand into his jean pocket and his plain white t-shirt looked authentic on him. His jeans were not tight, but not hanging down and showing his underwear. Soren dressed casually, but never shabbily. "My break was good, how was your's?" he continued to ask her. He remembered the painting in his hand, a small square filled with rich color, and handed it to her. "I painted it for you. I was really inspired on my trip down to the Galapagos."

To be quite honest, Dani had been surprised that she'd actually been willing to return to Franklyn High. It wasn't as if she particularly liked the school, and it seemed a little more trouble than it was worth. Add in the storm surrounding her break up with the school's most popular guy... She really should have stayed away.
Alas, she'd managed to drag herself back to the establishment and found herself sitting in her usual spot in the common room. It seemed that some things never changed. Even the people were still the same. Caesar King walked in like he owned the place. Soren Alchenzo looked like he had one hell of a hangover. Seth Frost... Well, he was just being Seth Frost. Dani spent time around the guy, but she was a little more interested in his brother, Zeke. He had caught her attention.
"Morning, Shayna." The brunette turned in her seat, a smile gracing her features as she greeted the girl. As for her question, Dani didn't really answer, merely shrugged. She had no real answer for it; only the last resort of 'I'm fine'. There was only so many times you could throw around a line before it got old. Seth's yelp of pain caught her attention however, causing her to startle, eyes wide with alarm as she looked at him. She didn't know what he'd done, but it seemed to be something involving his mouth. Maybe that will shut him up for a while... Dani thought to herself as she turned back to face Shayna. It wasn't that she didn't like the guy. She just wasn't in the mood for his 'class clown' act at the moment. "It's just wonderful to be back, isn't it?" She muttered, her voice dripping with sarcasm.

Sitting in the corner of commons, she rolled her eyes as more and more people walked in. Why would anyone want to come back to school after a week of vacation? She probably wouldn't have even shown up if it wasn't for her pushy mother who forced her to do things she didn't want to do. Serenity could have been sleeping in, dreaming of endless winter wonderlands and falling down holes after rabbits.
But she wasn't.

At least she could people watch. It wasn't hard, being outside of all the normal little cliques like she was. At least she had Ceasar, Andrei, and a few others to speak with sometimes. At least she had friends, right? She sighed softly, blinking her pale eyes as she gazed around. Serenity had never been much of a partying, warm welcome-wagon type of person. Those people often annoyed her, with all their openness.

Shayna chuckled, amused as always at Seth's childish class clown act. She was greatly entertained by all of these antics as she always was because of the fact that it was so much more innocent than the type of fun she liked to get into, sneaking alcohol from her father's cabinet and mouthing off at the teachers just to get a detention like she always expected to.

"Eh I'm alright as I always am," she said vaguely, not really liking to go into detail as usual. "Mine was probably much less eventful than yours, I can simply assume that." Cracking a grin at how Dani ignored Seth's antics. "Morning," she said briskly, a coy smirk curling onto her red lips. While it didn't seem like it, she never wore make up. She was deathly pale from being a ginger, not from any powders. She sunburned so easily that in an emergency situation you could use her as kindling for a fire. Or maybe that was a bit of an exaggeration....

With a little chuckle, she shoved her hands in her pockets, tilting her head with great amusement."Great to be back? Nah, not unless you'd like to compare this bleeding school to heaven. But you people make it tolerable." Grinning like a madwoman, not something really that was unusual, Shayna Grace relaxed herself a bit.

friends also.
seth excused himself, sticking his palm up in the air. he hopped off to the bathroom for a tissue and cold water, though the issue wasn't his limbs; just his tongue. "now i understand the phrase 'teeth like a vampire'," he grumbled, "wait. OH MY GOD PEOPLE I HAVE AN URGENT QUESTION!" seth ran back to the posse of his friends, jumping up and down with an ecstatic aura. "it's about famous phrases like the, um, something!" then he cried out in pain, holding his cheek and leaning against the familiar wall.
"abandon ship — even if it is called h.m.s urgent question!" he exclaimed, not purposely trying to coax everybody to turn his way. seth hopped off to the boy's bathroom, resembling a bunny rabbit. then, staggering into one of the cubicles, he took several sheets of toilet roll and dampened them with the icy cold water from the cold tap; either tap would be fine for seth, considering he wasn't sensitive to textures. what he was sensitive to, however, was words and insults and all of that. rather peculiar, if one were to ask seth, the subject at hand...

Let's just say he was nervous. Yes, nervous was the word. Nervous, and not just any kind. The kind where you just wanted to act stupid with friends and screw around. Why? He wasn't sure, but he got anxiety easily. Don't tell anyone. No telling how, or why, of course, but it started in seventh grade. Never told anyone, just wasn't his thing. Whenever he got it real bad and decided he wouldn't show up for school, he'd rent some stupid rom-com or chick flick and spend the day huddled up in his room with tears streaming shamelessly down his cheeks. Don't tell anyone. He and his family didn't quite get along.. He had two little sisters and three little brothers, a father and a stepmother. And an evil stepmother at that. She and he got into screaming matches at least a gazillion times a week. At least. His mother died when he was eleven, in a car accident. She'd always loved to drag him around to cheap perfume shoppes, so after she passed away, he drenched himself in cologne, all the time. Different mixtures of them, even some feminine ones because they were her favourites. Don't tell anyone.

The overwhelming scent of cheap cologne could make a person gag, if they didn't like Jace. For his friends, it was just his entrance. Hello, Jace is in the building. He tightened his grip on his messenger bag, slightly cursing himself for forgetting his baguette, aka his lunch. He patted his jeans suddenly, eyes wide, praying he didn't forget his cigarettes and paint brush. The cigarette box was in his pocket, and he found his paint brush in his back pocket. He'd known for sure already that his palette and small canvas, as well as his sketch book and pencils were in his bag. He glanced around for Adrian, trying to look nonchalant, while cracking a flirtatious grin at Shayna. It was all-talk, no truth, but he couldn't help it.
