She was distracted from him to the figures approaching. She could make out faces now. She squeaked with excitement and jumped a little, still holding her hands behind her back. "Look, more people! Oh, isn't this exciting? I think it's so cool that we get to meet people from the tunnels and from space!" she said happily. She was talking more to herself than to him, but she looked at him, curious to know if he had anything else to add. She couldn't be the only one that was excited, right?

Ezekiel had found himself migrating to the front of the group. He had intended to follow everyone else. He was a natural leader, he knew. He also knew that if he took a leadership position on this trip he would be faced with a lot of pressure and problems that everyone would expect him to solve. But obviously, his sub conscious did not enjoy being a follower. He liked being in the front. No one was obstructing his view of this beautiful surface. He had never seen the sky before in his life. He tilted his head up and gazed at the clouds as he walked, watching them sway and blow from one side to the other. It was breathtaking. They were so high up. The highest anything has ever been above his head were the vaulted ceilings in the libraries underground. He looked down at his feet and wondered where he was walking over- who was beneath him. While gazing at the ground, he caught sight of little flowers and sprouts that he could easily identify from all the books he had read.
He was jerked from his thoughts when a voice sounded behind him. From the phrase, he guessed the person was talking to himself. He glanced behind him and recognized Dacian. He'd seen him around- attended the same school. Engaged in a conversation once or twice. He slowed his pace so he ended up walking beside him. "What do you think about this place?" he asked, unable to keep his eyes from drifting to the sky again. The light illuminated his eyes and the fresh are was cool in his lungs, not musty like it was underground.

Azure nodded and laughed a little. "It's ok, I'm pretty sure most people from space are socially awkward in some way or another. After all, we have been isolated from our home planet for thousands of years," he pointed out, his intellectual side coming out. He didn't know much about history or surface culture and he didn't know what to expect. He was glad to see so many people coming to explore with them. Surely together they could survive whatever this was. As they got closer, he could pick out features of the others, when the sun wasn't glaring off his glasses. On one side he saw a blonde girl talking to a tall boy with dark hair. She seemed hyper and he looked rather unamused. On the other side, there was one boy in the front of the group, seeming to be leading them. He was dressed too formally for an expedition, Azure thought. What, with his suspenders, bowtie, and blazer. Others trailed silently after him. He wondered what theyw ere thinking about them.
