The boy ignored the odd stares he got from passing civilians - he was chewing on the end of his hoodie's drawstring - and occasionally glanced down every other alley before making a left turn down a less busy street. I could feel my awareness returning slowly as I began to awaken. Opening my eyes with a yawn I awoke to the strong but sweet scent of the fruit baring tree that I was perched in and took a deep breath. Despite my current occupation of taking lives, I enjoyed the gentler aspects of living my life. Drowning in the scent that surrounded me I looked up through the fruit and foliage peering through leaves and into the sky I began talking to myself as I often did. "One day I will be an assassin. A true assassin. I shall be the embodiment of death and shall bring it ruthlessly upon my selected targets. I will use everything I have to my advantage and cheat death while I'm at it. Deadly, seductive, ruthless, without empathy or sympathy, fearless, instinctively, perfectly, an assassin." Letting silence sink in for a moment I burst into laughter and pulled out one of my tessen opening it slowly. It covered a lot of my lower body with ease yet it was feather light. Looking at my reflection I couldn't believe how unchanged I was yet I wasn't really unchanged. "Who the hell am I kidding?! WHO AM I NOW?!"Yeah, that was a question that I was desperate for an answer to. This wasn't the usual identity crisis that most teens went through at one point. This scared me. It was as if all sense of reality I'd once had was gone. Like I wasn't even a person anymore. Just...imaginary.
