Derek sat down next to her and replied, "I'm not entirely sure why she isn't, pigeon. I wish I had an answer to that question."

Eliza shrugged. "I never had a quarrel with her, I guess. What does she look like? Pale and sickly? Or healthy again?"

"She looks fine, Eliza; the same as I don't have any scars anymore," Derek replied with a soft smile.

Eliza smiled gently at that. "Heh." Was all she said, looking down at her bedspread. She sighed and ran a hand through her hair. "I miss you both so very much..." She told them.

"I know pigeon; I wish I could be here with you as flesh and blood. I would give anything to do that, but I can't," Derek replied softly.

Eliza sighed and stood. "Oh well. We take what we can get, right?" She shrugged. "Are you proud of me, Da? Overall?"

Derek stood as well saying, "Yes, I'm very proud of you, pigeon. I'm proud of how well you've protected this family."

Eliza gave a watery smile. "I'd hug you if I could. I'm going to go see if Erik is okay... I need to apologise to him..."

Derek smiled at her and said, "I love you, pigeon. I'll always be there when you need me." He gently brushed her cheek then disappeared.

Erik lay on his bed in his room, flat out on his back, staring up at the ceiling.

Eliza smiled gently and went to find Erik. She knocked on his door and quietly came in. "Erik?"
