Anissa woke up about ten minutes later. She grabbdd her hand, groaning. She crawldx to a tree and leaned against the trunk and began to cry because of how bad her head hurt.

Zane chuckled as he reached his home. He opened the door quietly and stepped in. "Idiots..." He purred.

Derek smiled at her and said, "I still remember the look on your face when you saw it."

Eliza sniffled and wiped her eyes as she curled up even tighter. "Da, I don't understand. Why are you still here?" She asked quietly. "If you're a ghost, then it means you have unfinished business. If you're an angel, then where are your wings?"

Derek chuckled lightly and said, "I suppose an angel would be a better description to me than a ghost because I have no unfinished business; at least, none that I can think of at the moment. But, the best way to describe the reason for me being here is that I'm tied to you, Eliza."

"Tied? Da, I don't understand. Why not missy or Samuel? They are your flesh and blood." Eliza said quietly.

"It's a supernatural tether, if you will, that links me to you. I don't know why it isn't to Missy or Sam, but you are as much my flesh and blood as they are, pigeon. And, don't ever think otherwise," Derek corrected gently.

"It's easy to forget, Da. It's easy to forget life how it was before..." Eliza's voice trailed. "Are you disappointed in me? For how I acted. I can't say I am. A part of me was proud."

Derek sighed and replied, "I was a little disappointed that you shut your family out. I was hoping it wouldn't take you this long to open up again."
