I smile back, and sit at my desk. "I'm glad I could help," I say quietly, as the bell rings, signalling the end of lunch. I start reading again, hoping to have at least most of it over with my the time class starts. That way I can leave early, and maybe find a part-time job in town.

"Oh Tod I forgot to ask you, would you like to hang out after school today? I'm meeting up with Run and Toby and it'd be great if you could come too!" Addison smiled, hoping he would agree. She glanced away as the bell rang, picking up the pace with her writing so she could finished most of the homework before class started, 'Maybe the teacher won't ask for it until the end of class' she thought. Students started filing into the science room and took their seats.

I look up at Addison, considering her question for a moment. "Maybe," I say, before all the other kids start coming in. A few of my friends come by on their way to their seats, and stop to talk for a moment. One of them eyes Adi, and then turns to me, asking in a hushed voice what I'm doing, hanging out with a girl like her. I just shrug off his remark, not wanting to answer.

Daniel nodded then, "sure, come along. Better walk with someone then alone, right?" he offered a smile and started to walk ahead, "So.... You're not in my grade..." he said then, "Therefore I'm... Guessing you're seventeen on a lower grade then mine, am I right, Tyler?" he asked curiously.

Addison nodded, accepting Tod's answer before turning to the face the front of the class as the teacher walked in. She stiffened when she heard someone ask Tod why he was hanging out with her, she didn't want people to get a wrong impression about Tod. Adi glanced over seeing Tod hadn't answered and gave him a small, appreciative smile.

I see Addison smiling at me, and I smile back, shrugging a little, knowing she'd heard what the other guy had just said. I turn and start listening to the teacher, although I can't really concentrate on the lesson. Sometimes it seems as though she likes me, and other times she acts like I'm just a friend and nothing more. I'm so confused!

Addison concentrated on the science teacher, actually trying to understand what he was teaching. She told herself it was because she needed to get better grades but deep down inside she knew it was because she didn't want to have to ask Tod for help again. Adi blushed thinking about how hard she was trying to impress Tod. 'Why am I trying so hard? I know he'd never like a girl like me. I'm not his type and certainly not good enough,' she thought to herself, frowning.

I lean back in my seat, trying my best to listen to what the teacher's saying. I already know most of everything he's saying, but I decide to pay attention anyway. I sneak a glance at Adi, and smile to myself, seeing her blush a little. Get over her, dude, It tell myself. She'd never like me.

Addison saw something move out of the corner of her eye but was so concentrated on the lesson that she didn't really notice what it was until it hit her in the head...literally. She whirled around, seeing a crumpled up piece of paper lying on the ground, flashbacks of this morning came to her, and she immdediatly grew rigid. Adi turned around more seeing the same kid who had thrown the paper at her earlier that morning, she glared at him but he just threw yet another piece of paper. Some students around her were stifiling laughter but she just turned around, back to her work, her fists clenching and unclenching.
