((Sorry it took me a bit... I have been out and about all morning... Kale is her 'guardian angel, per say. Emma is the only one who can see/hear/interact with him. I can make a profile for him if you really want me too, but yeah... Enjoy...))
By all standards, Emma Tamirov was an interesting woman. Her past was something that she was reluctant to explain, the scars – mental, emotional, and physical – that traced her body… Her uncanny ability to interact with the Fallen…
She was pretty, in a black widow sort of way. All red hair, fair skin, and icy eyes.
Loyal to those she knew, Emma was a woman who could make you wish you hadn’t been born. Providing you got on her bad side, at least. She has no qualms with revenge.
She was no special woman. There were no monuments dedicated to her, nor did she do anything that any normal citizen would care about. But, she loved someone, with all of her heart, and he loved her just as much.
And for the red-haired POLLUX agent, that was enough.
Now, years after the war, years after POLLUX and CASTOR were disbanded, fell to ruin, Emma was still wandering. She had lost her friends to the war. Owen and Tabitha… Her husband, the love of her life, Chris. She had lost them all.
The only one left was Kale.
He was – in essence – her guardian angel. At least, that is what she called the Fallen. He had watched over her since her birth, and had never left.
He had led her here, to this city in ruins. He had said there were others here.
Which is why she currently wandered the city, carrying her pack, with her Rollenchester out and ready to fire. She was wary, and it showed in her stance.
“Kale, it’s like a ghost town here. What happened?”
The angel appeared behind her. No idea. It’s hard to tell nowadays. It could have been anything… he fell silent, a look of uncertainty in his grey-blue eyes. He tilted his head, as if hearing an invisible sound. Emma! Moon Runners, coming on your left!
The POLLUX agent swore, turning to face the fast-approaching enemies. She saw Kale land next to her, folding his red-tinged wings back, and muttering. A gleaming sword appeared in his hands, etched with old angelic runes.
Before either angel or agent had time to react, the wolf-beasts were there.
Emma fired off a round, knowing the deadly impact of her weapon. It had been created during the war, to puncture most bullet-proof glass.
The creature she had hit let out a howl of pain, and Emma flashed a smirk in Kale’s direction. “On my count?”
Yes.
Emma silently counted down, knowing Kale would know exactly when to move.
A minute later, Kale had lunged forwards, sword outstretched. Emma followed suit, firing the Rollenchester one shot at a time.
There were three of the Moon Runners in total. Two males and a female. Emma went for the female, knowing Kale could hold his own.
He was an angel, after all.
In all, the skirmish took… twenty minutes.
Kale sat on the remains of a ruined building, wiping the blood from his blade. Emma crouched next to him, on the ground, watching with wary eyes.
Emma, I believe you should go… There might be more of them around…
The red-haired woman nodded and stood, watching as Kale slowly disappeared.
I’ll keep in touch.
