Derek raised his eyebrows slightly at Sean's Irish accent, but said nothing of it. "You're more than welcome to stay as long as you like; I'm happy to have the company. To be honest, you two are the first people I've seen for a while now. If you like, I can show you to the kitchen and then to a room," he offered. He hoped they would stay. He hated being alone; Caesar was great company, but it was nothing compared to having other people around.

Sean tried to smile, but only a corner of his lips raised. "We appreciate the offer very much; but I'm afraid we can only stay a night. We have a daughter waiting for us at the base, and only a few people to look after her." Kaiiyen was looking worried. Maternal instinct was getting to her. What if something went wrong? What if the base was attacked? What if her daughter wasn't there when they got back?

Derek nodded saying, "I understand. Come, I'll show you to the kitchen and you get something to eat." He led them out of the room and downstairs. He opened the kitchen door revealing stacks upon stacks and rows of food in boxes, jars and tins saying, "I got most of it from nearby grocery stores, restaurants and fast food places. The rest of it was already here. Go on, help yourselves to whatever strikes your fancy." He pointed to the stoves and microwave, noting the plates, bowls and cups stacked neatly on the counters nearby.

Kaiiyen shook her head. "I'm not hungry..." She murmured, now pale.
"Are you alright?" Asked Sean, turning his attention to her. "Normally you're not that colour.."

Derek turned to her and said, "You have to eat something. Pregnancy is very demanding of the mother, especially in the food department. I know that you're worried about your daughter, but I'm sure she'll be fine until you get back. If it bothers you that much, I can go back with you tonight, just so that you won't have to go alone."

Kaiiyen shook her head. "No... No we're fine.." She fidgeted with her hands.

"You have to eat something, love. Here." He picked up a tin and looked at it. "Canned salmon. You love salmon. Besides, you have to listen to the paramedic. He knows what he's talking about."

Derek watched them both, staying out of the way. He knew that pregnancies needed to be closely watched, but he couldn't think of a way to get them to stay. "Sean, may I speak with you for a moment?" he asked politely.

Sean nodded, setting the tin down and quietly leaving Kaiiyen to go talk to Derek. His movements, although graceful, had a deadly air about him; he had killed before and could do so without hesitation. "Yes?"

"I'm sure that you're well aware of how dangerous a pregnancy can be, and I would like to help. As you can clearly see, I've got more than enough room here for you and your family and I'm more than willing to offer it. Not to mention the fact that I have more than enough food to go around; it would take me several years to get through it all, I'm certain. This building is secure from the creatures unless they figure out how to use the elevator because the stairwells are destroyed. And, I can see how much you want to protect your family, Sean. I must ask you again, even if you bring your daughter here, are you sure you won't stay?" he asked, making sure to keep his tone light. He could tell that Sean would kill to protect his family as he would have done and did in the past. He more wanted them to be safe, especially for the sake of the unborn child. He felt it was his duty to ask at least once more.

Sean nodded. "I very much appreciate that offer, sir. I'm sure Kaiiyen will too. I'll talk to her about it. If she feels safe... Then I'm sure she'll take this opportunity within a heartbeat." He gave a lopsided smile.
