He is my other eyes that can see above the clouds; my other ears that hear above the winds. He is the part of me that can reach out into the sea. He has told me a thousand times over that I am his reason for being; by the way he rests against my leg; by the way he thumps his tail at my smallest smile; by the way he shows his hurt when I leave without taking him. (I think it makes him sick with worry when he is not along to care for me.) When I am wrong, he is delighted to forgive. When I am angry, he clowns to make me smile. When I am happy, he is joy unbounded. When I am a fool, he ignores it. When I succeed, he brags. Without him, I am only another man. With him, I am all-powerful. He is loyalty itself. He has taught me the meaning of devotion. With him, I know a secret comfort and a private peace. He has brought me understanding where before I was ignorant. His head on my knee can heal my human hurts. His presence by my side is protection against my fears of dark and unknown things. He has promised to wait for me… whenever… wherever - in case I need him. And I expect I will - as I always have. He is just my dog.

There are eight spots. Perhaps you signed up yourself, or maybe your parents signed up...or maybe you just have nothing better to do during the summer. But you chose to do this. Help at the pound for the rest of your summer vacation. Fun right? No? Well then, too bad..because you're stuck here anyways. Your volunteering, so no your not getting paid for what you're doing here. But wait..what are you doing here exactly? Well, you were assigned a dog. No, not by yourself, but by the owners of the pound, or the shelter, or the kennel..or whatever you want to call it. With your dog, you gain it's trust, take it out on walks, train it..all that jazz, and what you would normally do with a dog. Problem? There's a reason why these dogs are in the pound. Maybe...they were abused, abandoned, or just plain unwanted. You have to work with them, and honestly it won't be easy. So don't get your hopes up on your dog magically transforming into the ideal dog by the end of the first day..."because it takes time, love, and loyalty." said the owner of the pound. Maybe you wont just heal your dog's pain, but your own as well. If you have one, that is.

M I A K O D A
is a middle aged mutt of some sort. Her family gave her up before they moved away, leabing poor Miakoda here..this here las, is a very smart and funny dog. She's very intelligent and a fast learner. She isn't a yappy dog, and is quiet most of the time, unless trying to tell you something or is irritated. She's medium sized, with a big heart. She's quite the cuddler and is very loyal. She's well trained, but needs a bit more training on other things.

S A M S O N
Sammy is a young dog. He enjoys struttin' his stuff with the ladies and is quite the show off. He was found on the street, no owner, no nothing. Someone had called the pound on him because he kept harrassing their female dog. This Shiba Inu will make you smile even on the darkest of your days. Although, being a stray all his life, Sammy here needs a lot of training.He'll be a challenge, but it'll be all worth it. You'll see.

B U T C H
Butch is hard one. This old german shep./husky mix was used in dog fights, and badly abused. He's a tough cookie. Definitely the most aggressive, and hardest to handle out of the group. This dog will take real work. He's a large dog, with big paws, and of course, a touch of nice, gleaming sharp teeth. He's aggressive towards anything, and everyone. Dogs, cats, birds, you name it. He was taken from his fighting home by the pound on an extreme rescue..good luck. You'll need it.
