The year is 2016 two years ago there was a huge sickness wiping out 95% of the worlds population. You are a survivor there is no form of government so you must always watch your back. The sickness killed everyone over the age of 30 and under the age of 10. The sickness is the result of war, China dropped The Uniter States debt began to fight and used the sickness as a weapon the sickness spread and grew stronger and out of control. The setting is a small town in the central valley called Reedley which in its prime was a small farm and railroad town, years ago it was a bit larger but now practicly the size of Minkler (Minklers population is about 30 people) There is a market that runs this time of year, the fruit trees are in full bloom, and there is a river on the southwest and west side of town. It is spring, and starting to get hot.
