Marlena grew up in a large house in New York. Her father was a banker and her mother was a stay at home wife. Marlena was aloud out to the stables once every week. On that day she could ride her mare all over the property. Her brother died when he was six, because he had gotten sick with Small Pox. He was her mother's favorite child, so Marlena was often forgoten.
