Wanted Runnaways (Semi-lit)

"Yup!" She said. "I should start now, I'm 17, I bet they start accepting them at my age." She announced. "Well I'm off to sleep on the kitchen table." She said, marching out to the kitchen. "You coming?" She asked, throwing her head over her shoulder.

Griffin couldn't help it. He badly wanted to go with the pretty girl. But was it really safe to leave his little sister alone, while she was sleeping? He glanced back at the bedroom door.

"I don't care if you stay with her." She said, taking a pillow from the couch and placing it on the table. "I'm just going to sleep." She said. "After talking to myself about lighthouses!" She said. "Or pineapples, or sponges or food or tomorrow." She said, laying down and resting her hands behind her head.

Griffin frowned in confusion. Maybe he shouldn't spend too much time with Jackie after all.
"Talk to yourself? What do you mean?

"Just thinking, not like I'm crazy talking to myself. It helps put me to sleep if I think about tomorrow or what I plan to do." She said, closing her eyes and turning on her side. Probably run in a resteraunt tomorrow, take their biscuits, feed the group. She began to think.

"Fair enough," Griffin shoved his hands in his pockets. Now don't screw this up, a pretty girl is really talking to you, he told himself.
"Um, mind if I sit with you?" he asked, gesturing at the table.

"I don't care, I'll end up falling asleep on you though." She said, hanging her arm off the table and then bringing it back up again. "Stupid table." She whispered, brushing her hair back and stretching.

"Can't be comfortable," Griffin said. "Why don't we go sit on the couch?"

She opened her eyes and looked at him. "Thats for other runnaways, I've been sleeping on this table for years." She closed them again and thought about how the table was a better place to sleep. Its cold and hard and in the kitchen and near the food and im the guard of the food. She reminded herself.

"Oh," Griffin said quietly. He sat on the end of the table, pulling Jackie's feet into his lap. "How long have you been away from a family?"
