Zero wandered up to the roof of the apartment building. She looked around at the abandoned city with a heavy heart. The sun was well up by now, and it reflected off the windows of the tall skyscrapers. She thought she could see the old amusement park way off in the distance. She smiled as she remembered when she used to go there as a small child, and her first time on the ferris wheel. How she had been nervous but a warm hand had settled on her shoulder, and a comforting voice had said, "Don't worry, think of it as flying like a bird and you'll be fine".
Zero shook the image of her mother out of her head.

Paige smiled at Kyle as she was glad to finally have somebody to talk too. He was nice, although it was kind of awkward talking to him because she didn't know him that well but she wasn't complaining. "People don't really talk to me that much so I don't know how they are" Paige blushed, embarrassed that she had to admit she had no friends to him. She didn't want to frighten him away. Paige chuckled nervously and nodded at his last question. They had been in the corridor a while and her hunger had completely disappeared, leaving her confused because she had been starving only a few minutes before. "Weird" Paige thought to herself before looking back at Kyle. "I'm not so hungry anymore so yeah, I don't have anything to do really."

{Chandler}
She sighed, and then turned. Chandler gave J.J. The fakest smile ever, and said, "Thank you." Sarcastically. She yawned, stretching out her arms, and then hugging them to herself. "Your right, When I'm not strong Cerrie is there for me and vice versa. So looks like we've got that covered." Chandler said, still yawning a little bit. At his next comment her eyes darkened and a dark smile flickered across her mouth. "Hah. Thats a nice thought. Except for the fact that we have no electricity to run the only remotely fun place in the city." She said, motioning towards the window where the ferris wheel could be seen. Of course that was only her definition of fun.

J.J. sighed at Chandler's biting sarcasm. She was definitely trying to make sure he stayed away. "Alright, I get it." He moved over to the doors, and yelled "Chow time!" But he didn't turn and sit down. He moved over to where he'd left his weatherbeaten jacket and slipped it on. "Don't save mine. Split it between the others." Then he quietly left the way he'd come before, slipping out into the ruined city, and quickly disappearing in the ruins.

As he walked he thought of the inhabitants, and he felt a well of sadness rise. They were all so young, yet they had to be adults, had to do everything to survive. Their life wasn't pretty, or even okay. It was a bleak existence in a world colored grey.

From her window she saw Jaxon leaving. The girl clicked her movie player shut, sliding it underneath the floorboards of her room. Cerrie stood, and shoved the window open, sliding down the shingles and landing the graceful jump down beside him. "Where ya going?" She asked brightly, curious as to where he was headed. The girl glanced backward to see he had come from the kitchen. "Did Chandler scare you off?" She questioned, "She can be a jerk sometimes."
