.p e r s o n a l i t y.-{{ Jaye is essentially shy. She doesn't really like social situations- though she's good with people, she dislikes being around lots of them. She's always had only a few close friends, but's she's very loyal to them and they to her. She's not an easy target for bullies, though. If she is picked on, she discourages them by ignoring them, but if she sees others being bullies' targets, she will lash out with the full force of her intelligent tongue and inherit gift for sarcasm. At school, she's a determined academic student with a sound footing in the arts- she wants to be a zoologist, or maybe a sound technician. She's good at writing and vocabulary and enjoys English and Spanish; she loves science but- though she's good at it- doesn't find math interesting. Needless to say, her favorite classes are band and choir.
When Jaye plays an instument, sings, or writes music, she becomes a whole different person- relaxed, focused, fairly social, and very funny. Around her closest friends she's like this, too. This form is an example of her "close friend" responses..l i k e s.-{{"I like singing, and playing the guitar, the piano, and the violin. I also like to write music and play with Chloe, my Seeing Eye dog. I prefer listening to books on tape to reading Braille, and I like to surf the Internet. It's slow, though, because I have to use a text-to-speech translator. I also love listening to music, all types, and my iPod has about a bajillion songs on it. I like chocolate, too- I prefer dark to milk, but any kind will do. Um, that's about it...".d i s l i k e s.-{{"I hate popular people- they're just so shallow. I also hate it when people pity me, pamper me, or treat me differently in any way because of my disability. It's my pey peeve. Um, and I also hate fruity candy, spinach, and plain pasta.".i n s t r u m e n t s . p l a y e d.-{{"I've played the piano ever since I was 4 or 5. I started violin when I moved to the U.S., and I got a guitar for my 12th birthday, taught myself how to play, and am now composing music for all three instruments. Oh, and my voice, of course. I'm a soprano, and my mum's my voice coach.".s p o r t s . p l a y e d.-{{"I used to be a gymnast- I love the free, flying feeling- but I got too tall. I play a little volleyball, but I'm not that good. I'm just not really a sporty person... plus, my eyes mean I can't really exercise safely anymore.".f a v . m e m b e r . o f . 1 D.-{{"That would have to be Zayn. I think he's got the best voice... I like them all, though.".b a c k g r o u n d.-{{"I was born in London. My mum- Annabeth Black- was my only parent. She worked as a freelance songwriter/piano-lesson-giver. She never talked about my dad- I'm not sure if he left her, or died, or what. All I know is that they were never married.
"From a very early age I liked music. I would sing along to the radio, and as I said I started playing the piano when I was pretty young. I went to a London school, lived in the flat with my mum, made some friends at school, and generally lived a good, if not money-abundant, life until I was eight. I loved my music teacher at school, Mrs. Finnegan... she would work with me seperately for hours at no charge at all because she loved teaching me so much.
"Then my mom received an offer to work for a prestidiuos arts school for more than double her current income with a free scholarship for me included. The only problem was that the school was in NYC, U.S.A. My mum eventually made the decision to uproot and move countries.
"I was inconsolable. I cried and cried, even on the plane. My mum taught me to play the violin as a incentive for taking it well, and I eventually calmed down and learned to love New York City. Not my school, though. Almost all the kids came from very rich families, and though they were supposed to be talented in some art or other, most of them weren't. They were snobby to boot. There were a few kids like me, who either actually were talented and came in on a full scholarship or whose parents worked at the school, and these became my social circle.
"I breezed through the grades, my favorite classes being choir and band, though I liked working with computers and was a fairly good artist. I got good grades and was happy. Then, a few months after I turned sixteen, my vision began to fail.
"At first I though I just needed a new prescription. Then I went to the eye docter. He was concerned about something- though he didn't tell me what- and directed me to a specialist.
"The specialist was very kind to me. She told me I had caught an eye disease- a rare one, just my luck- and my vision would continue to fail until I was legally blind. She very carefully told me I wouldn't be completely blind- I would be able to see light and dark and would probably be able to navigate without resorting to extreme measures.
"She also told me there were no glasses or contacts that would help. 'The treatment for this is very expensive, and it usually doesn't work,' she told me. 'I advise- seeing your insurance plan- that you deal with it as best you can if you're willing. I know a young Seeing Eye dog that has just completed her training- she's a black Lab named Chloe. You might want to adopt her- she'll help you get around better than any cane ever will. You should learn to read Braille, too.'
"We had no money to spare for a treatment that probably wouldn't work. So I dealt, and learned to read Braille, and adopted Chloe. She was the best part of becoming blind- so sweet, and very smart, too. I had never had a dog before.
"My mum withdrew me from school and quit her job to home-school me, keeping a side job as a sound technician to keep us fed. Most of my friends deserted me except a few close ones. It was horrible, and as my vision worsened I sunk into misery..Δ l l ' s . f a i r . i n . l o v e.

Definitely.".c r u s h.-{{"No one right now...".p a s t . r e l a t i o n s h i p s.-{{"Never really had any. The boys at my school were so snobby, I hated all of them. I've crushed from a distance, of course, but I never actually, like, talked to someone.".b o y f r i e n d.-{{"Uh- NO."
