I swung the door open, treading down the hall in my light grey suit, black waistcoat and black mask. I came into the bos living area, the desginated meeting area, and spotted a tall blonde girl sitting upon the sofa. I cleard my throat, seeing that she was obviously oblivious to my presnce.

As I heard someone clear their throat, I looked up quickly, my mask shifting a little. I fixed my mask and put both feet on the floor. Glancing over the guys outfit, he seemed too mature to be one of the boys living here. With the waistcoat, he seemed more like a sophisticated man than a reckless boy. I'm not sure if I like it or not, but I'll have to put up with it for the rest of the night. All I want out of him is someone who won't let anything get awkward. I hate when there's nothing to talk to, or insulting someone back accident, especially if he's the one insulting me. Anyway, I hope the night will go smoothly, and he isn't a big flirt. It's awkward when you don't know who's flirty with you, especially since he doesn't know who you are either.

[Make_a__Scene]

Topaz had gone out a side door into a courtyard to make his way around to the front steps by going around the side of the house, rather than just walking right out the front doors. He wasn't into conventional thinking. He adjusted the knot on his tie - a habit learned from his father - and then placed one hand on his camera to steady it as he rounded the corner. His partner came into view, perched at the top of the steps like the perfect lady in waiting. However, since she seemed to be looking the opposite way from where Topaz was coming, he quietly snuck behind her, stepping cautiously on the balls of his feet and keeping his camera from hitting his stomach as he crept surreptitiously. Once he had closed the space between them, he leaned over the girl's shoulder and whispered into her ear, "Hey, there, Princess."

Her heels clicked in a constant tempo with her stride, then paused as she slid the glass door open, a couple more clacks as she stepped out, then another pause to close the door. Before continuing on, Sapphire smoothed some invisible wrinkles from her dress and made sure that the back of her skirt was not flipped up in the back; her clothes seemed to have a tendency to embarrass her in the most important of situations. This was important to her, anyway. This could be big; she'd only ever had one boyfriend, one kiss. And it only turned out to be a summer fling with a boy who worked on a cruise ship. It seemed forever ago, but she still missed him sometimes. Her crystalline eyes first laid upon the beautiful pool. Screw the masquerade, she wanted to jump in and take a swim. It was just one of the many lessons her parents had forced upon her, but she ended up falling in love with the water. Eyes sliding up from the water, she found her partner. He was handsome. That was always a plus. And she had an appreciation for is simplistic mask. She didn't say anything, eyes wide behind her mask, just stared, fingers playing at the fabric of her dress.

[The Detective -]

I was too busy starring into the depths of the aqua blue pool, which shimmerd from the dwindling light of the beautiful sun set behind me. I whipped around when I heard material rufling behind me, I let out a loud gasp. It was my partner, and before I could stop myself I began to stammer something, my face growing pink by the second. " Y-you gave me an awful fright ", I manged to get out rather abruptly.

I held my hand out, as proper gentalmen do when they escort ladies. " Good evening Miss ", I stated calmly at the girl. I have to admit she was pretty, but the fair sex was not my department. My accent was so reconazable, that I feard she would reconize me later as the boring loner at the after party.

[Make_a__Scene]

Sapphire's pink, glossed lips widened into a little smile first at this boy's jump, and then at his exotic accent. She hesitated before saying anything, having yet to grow out of her shy, awkward phase. However, then she bundled her platinum blonde hair and pulled it over one shoulder, looking away from the pretty-pink blush on his cheeks. She'd never been very good at formally styling her hair, and for her high school dances she'd gone to salons. Now it was just washed, conditioned, and brushed, hanging long with the faintest of waves at the ends. "I'm sorry," she apologized quietly, barely even audible over the trickling of the tiny artificial waterfall on one side of the pool.

[The Detective -]

My mouth became dry, as it hung slightly open from my jaw. I was usure of how to respond, and suddleny I remberd that we were not supposed to give our partners our real names. I pursed my lips, scratching my forhead in deep thought. Nicknames, I need a nickname ..... Do I even have one? ...... Watson! That's it she can call me Watson, I thought to myslef as a giant grin grew long my face. " This isn't my real name, but its a nickanme ..... so please call me Watson ", I said shyly, wonderig if the girl had figured out I was slightly socially ackward as of yet.

Melinda was still looking at the butterfly when she heard a voice right next to her ear. she gasped and spun around, her auburn hair falling over her shoulders. she looked at the man standing right infront of her with surprise in her eyes. her smile gleamed as she said, "you surprised me." she saw that he was handsome and she blushed slightly and stepped back looking down and noticing a camera around his neck.

Straightening himself when the girl turned around, Topaz chuckled a little at her surprised face. "That was the point, darling. Anything else would be boring and awkward." Another little laugh at himself. "Now then, since we aren't allowed to share names and it would be extremely difficult otherwise, you can call me Onyx." He held out his hand for her. Most of this was an act; Topaz was very kind, but he enjoyed playing parts. It just so happened that he felt his masquerade character should be the perfect gentleman, perhaps even to the point of cheesiness. Anyway, the main reason he was here was to safeguard his little sister.

Sapphire chewed her lower lip and kept herself from wringing her hands by grasping at the chain of her clutch that draped her shoulder. She hadn't caught on that this partner of hers was just as shy and awkward as she; she was too busy being shy and awkward. "You can call me Emerald," she suggested, still avoiding what eye contact she could. Masquerades had never held the appeal of hiding for her; she enjoyed the dressing up part, but the masks just didn't work well enough for her to come out of her shell. She was convinced that anyone would recognize her super blonde hair with or without her mask on.

Melinda gently took his hand and said, "nice to meet you Onyx, you can call me Anna."(say like ah-nah) she chose to use her middle name as her cover name. she looked up into his eyes behind the mask and smiled. then she said referring to his camera, "so im guessing you like photography." she recognized the type of camera since her mother had been a professional photographer. Melinda shifted her wait on her high heels because she wasnt very used to them yet.

Spencer looked at him. "Do you like to dance?" She asked.

I bobbed my head side to side, "let's just say I'm not very good at dancing. More of a music person." I was never much of a dancer. The closest thing I ever came to dancing was jumping up and down on stage during a song. But... That had to do with me playing the song. Like I said. Music person.
