"Ah. Is the girl you were with before- Pixie, with all the piercings- responsible for the graffiti?" He asked. "No offence meant, it's just she seems like the sort of girl who would do that."

Hollie considered what he had just said. "Umm...You know, she could. But it's been going on for way longer than we've been here."

To prove her point, a boy walked around Pixe, muttering "Crazy girl." Ryan laughed. "Nah, I'd probably get walked on."

"Hey, same to you, buddy!" Pixie yelled after the boy. "And you're too tall to get stepped on." She said to Ryan. "Unlike me." She laughed.

Philippe frowned. "Well, this seems like a good school." He muttered sarcastically. "Still, at least some of the people are nice." He smiled at Hollie.

OMG!!! He smiled at me! Hollie smiled back, hiding under her fringe. "Okay, so this is the hallway with all the lockers," she waved her hand around, "Do you know your locker number? Mines...894 or something."

Ryan O'Nally

Ryan laughed too. He liked Pixie, she was funny. "You're...like Clary in the The Mortal Instruments series. Small, red hair and definitely don't play by the rules." No! Another stupid thing! Here, you're not a bookworm!

Pixie laughed. "Thanks." She nodded. "I'll take that as a compliment. I don't read much, so..." She shrugged, tilting her head to the side.

"Um..." Philippe said, taking a rumpled piece of paper from his pocket, saying the numbers in French quietly before answering in English. "823."

"Ah," said Hollie, "You're.....here!" She pointed to a bottom locker. "I'm......." she ran a couple of lockers down, "Here!" she said pointing to a middle locker.

"Oh, um. Me neither," said Ryan, shrugging off what he had just said, "My friend showed me the books." He looked around. "Do you know where to get some food around here? I'm starving!"

Pixie nodded. "I was actually going to nick some food from the canteen before we ran into each other, literally, so let's go." She said, standing up.

Philippe laughed. "Hey, no fair, I'm taller than you and you get the middle locker while I get the bottom." He joked.

"Nothing is fair at Larkbush," said Hollie solemnly, "Life isn't fair. It wasn't fair that I got sent here in the first place. It wasn't fair that I got bullied. It wasn't fair that Mum married Sebastian. It wasn't fair that Mum though I would hurt little Joshy. It wasn't fair that I came to England. It wasn't fair..." she broke off, tears starting to stream down her cheeks. She slumped against the lockers, head in hands.

"Lead on!" grinned Ryan, "I have no idea where anything is here so you might as well show me!"

"Oh, God." Philippe said, walking over to her quickly, patting her shoulder. After a few minutes he awkwardly put his arms around her. "It's okay." He said, chewing his lip.

Pixie Gray

Pixie examined him, eyes narrowed, for a minute before nodding and smiling. "Sure. Follow me." She said, leading him down a few corridors and downstairs.

"I'm sorry," sobbed Hollie, "I'm such a mess!" In her sad state, she didn't go bonkers when Philippe comforted her. "I've had such a rough few years, leaving Ireland, coming here. Mum and Dad getting divorced, Dad getting custody of little Tara. Then Mum remarried a jerk, I ended up with a little half-brother. Josh. I love him so much but Mum sent me here because she thought I'd hurt him." Her voice turned out high-pitched, "But I wouldn't ever hurt him!"

Ryan followed her. "It's a long way to the canteen!" he laughed.
