Dalia nodded, agreeing. "yes. i help. when we at France, help teach me speak good English?" Dalia asked. "then i go back home to family and go back living good life happy." she continued. "also help me read. i no know how read. you no have to, i help anyways, with no deal or with deal. freedom all i ask."

Emerald glanced up from the shiny deck surface, nodding and smiling. "Of course. I'll teach you to speak, read, write, sing. Whatever you want." she agreed, eager to help the girl who seemed eager to help her. It was only fair.

Dalia smiled. "teach me ways of free person." She says again, happily. "i help you much as i can." she continues to work, eager to help her so she could free all of her friends and slaves and to live life again.

Jack nodded, understanding what she meant this time. He continued scrubbing the floor, but talked as he did so. " It would go against all we fight for, if we had accepted that offer. The Hood can´t hunt down an innocent woman and give her to such a cruel monster." he explained, frowning at the thought. "But... why did you come here? It is still risky, even if he does not recognise you" Jack was glad that she was here, although he did not quite know why, but he felt the need to protect her from Alsan, and knew that he might go looking for her at any moment.

Emerald smiled at Dalia again and nodded. "I'll teach you anything." she said again, but then her smile faded as a shadow passed over her. She glanced over her shoulder to see one of the slave masters standing above them.
"Shut up, wenches." he spat, cracking the whip into the air. "Next time, this whip will be over your backs."
Emerald scowled at the man, biting her tongue to keep herself from speaking back. But finally, she couldn't hold it anymore. When he turned he back to walk away she took the bucket of water and splashed it over the deck. The man slipped in the soapy water, falling hard onto his back and groaning. Emerald's victorious laughter rang out over the boat, but the slave master was not amused at all. After regaining his breath he grabbed Emerald by the back of her shirt and held her up off the ground. "Something wrong?" she taunted with a smirk. She knew she'd get in big trouble, but maybe the other slaves would be encouraged to do something.

Dalia gasped in horror for what she did. She backed away in fear, hands covering her mouth. She closed her eyes tightly, was afraid what the slave master would do with both of them. She began to shake with fear.

Emerald heard Dalia gasp and glanced back to see her shaking and afraid. She waved a hand behind her back, telling Dalia to go away. She didn't want Dalia close by, Dalia hadn't done anything. This was her fight. Glancing back at the slave master, she smirked again. "I found that quite amusing. Didn't you?" The man snarled and threw her down on the ground, knocking the wind out of her. Emerald's vision went blurry and she couldn't breath but she still managed to laugh again. "This is fun. What else you have planned?" she asked, her voice strangled as she struggled to get her breath back.

Dalia covered her ears, closed her eyes tightly, and sobbed out loud, terribly frightened. She was too afraid to move. She sat down and curled up, sobbing.
