The Real Me
Name: Gretchen May Cameron
Nickname: Gret
Personality: At first glance, Gretchen comes across as a quiet, polite young girl. Being blind, she relies on instinct more than any logic. Despite her disability, she is rather cheerful and friendly to those around her, never letting anyone see how much pain she hides beneath the surface. Emotional, it doesn't take much for her to break. Gret simply hates it when people walk up to her and ask her if she needs help crossing the street, as it makes her feel inferior. She struggles with self-esteem issues and doesn't really believe in herself, no matter how happy she pretends to be. She is still trying to find herself.
History: She was born blind and so she never knew a world with color and sight. However, her blindness heightened her other senses, and she sees the world through them. At age fifteen, she went through training with her seeing-eye dog, a golden retriever named Noble. When she was sent to the camp, she brought her guide dog along with her. Gretchen doesn't know what to expect, and secretly hopes someone will see through her fake cheerfulness, and help her become truly happy.
Likes: Walks in the park, when other people treat her normally, Noble, her family and friends.
Dislikes: Confusion, when someone acts like she can't do anything for herself, fake people.
