"Semper Fi"-Trace Adkins
He sat in that long line of Barber chairs
And the Sergeant asked him, Son, would you like to keep your hair?
He said yes sir, as he heard those clippers buzzing on
Sergeant said, well, hold out your hand, here it comes...
Semper Fi, Do or Die
So Gung-ho to go and pay the price
Here's to Leathernecks, Devil Dogs, and Jarheads
And Parris Island in July, Semper Fi
I sleep in my bed instead of a Fox Hole
I've never heard my boss tell me to lock and load
Ain't no bullet holes in the side of my SUV
Because the kid next door just shipped out over seas
Semper Fi, Do or Die
So Gung-ho to go and pay the price
Here's to Leathernecks, Devil Dogs, and Jarheads
And Parris Island in July, Semper Fi
For the few that wear the Dress Blues
With haircut High and Tight
Who are Proud to be the first ones in a fight
Semper Fi
Semper Fi, Do or Die
So Gung-ho to go and pay the price
Here's to Leathernecks, Devil Dogs, and Jarheads
And Parris Island in July,
Never leave a man behind...
A Marine, A Marine for Life

Rules
-This is semi-lit, without despute. That means you must post at least three lines in each post, for every character you have. You must use correct capitalization, spelling, grammar, and punctuation at all times, even in the forms to sign up(OOC is okay). Occasional mistakes or writer's block every now and then are understood, but I don't want you using that excuse too often.
-Fill out each part of the form in complete sentences, preferrably at least three sentences for each section. No "will RP it out" or "I don't wanna talk about it" in any parts.
-If someone asks for a recap, please give it to them.
-If you're going to be gone for a certain amount of time, please tell me ahead of time so you can stay in the roleplay.
-If your characters swear, please star them out like this. S**t
-Don't be detailed about fights, and if your characters are going to do "it", fade to black.
-No killing anyone's characters. Marines do not just go around killing each other, no matter how much they may dislike them.
-Romance and drama are encouraged!
-You can have as many characters as you'd like, but you must keep them all active.
-Keep everything PG 13. Don't be too detailed about killings or anything like that.
-None of your characters can be each other's crush,boyfriend/girlfriend, or spouse.
-There's no such thing as a perfect Marine. Keep that in mind.
-No mary/gray sues, godmodding, or powerplaying.
-Please think before you choose your rank. Someone who is eighteen could not possibly already have a rank as high as General, or anything like that.
-Keep it realistic.

Quotes and Defining Points in Marine Corps History
"It comes as little surprise that the first ground engagement in the Gulf involved Marines. It comes as no surprise that the Marines fought with great distinction and fought very bravely. Their professionalism and sacrifice will end the nightmare—I'm absolutely confident of that—will end the nightmare of Iraq's brutal occupation and ensure that Kuwait is once again free."
—George H.W. Bush, 41st U.S. President
February 1, 1991
The Montford Point Marines loyally served our nation in the face of prejudice and discrimination. While they fought for freedom abroad, participating in many of the most important battles of the Pacific, Korea and Vietnam, they returned home to a nation that was separate and unequal. The Montford Point Marines had fought bravely, proving their valor and commitment, but it would take years for them to receive proper recognition for their sacrifice due to the fact that they were African-American. Breaking through racial barriers, they transformed the face of the Marine Corps. Today, Marines owe a debt of gratitude to the Montford Point Marines. Their transformation at Montford Point transformed the Marine Corps and opened the door for Americans of every walk of life to earn the title "Marine," regardless of race, creed, color, national origin or gender.
"Freedom is not free, but the U.S. Marine Corps will pay most of your share. "
Ned Dolan
"I come in peace, I didn't bring artillery. But I am pleading with you with tears in my eyes: If you f*** with me, I'll kill you all."
Marine General James Mattis, to Iraqi tribal leaders
"The safest place in Korea was right behind a platoon of Marines. Lord, how they could fight!"
MGen. Frank E. Lowe, USA; Korea, 26 January 1952
"The United States Marine Corps, with its fiercely proud tradition of excellence in combat, its hallowed rituals, and its unbending code of honor, is part of the fabric of American myth. "
Thomas E. Ricks; Making the Corps, 1997
"We have two companies of Marines running rampant all over the northern half of this island, and three Army regiments pinned down in the southwestern corner, doing nothing. What the he** is going on? "
Gen. John W. Vessey Jr., USA, Chairman of the the Joint Chiefs of Staff
during the assault on Grenada, 1983
"The Marines I have seen around the world have the cleanest bodies, the filthiest minds, the highest morale, and the lowest morals of any group of animals I have ever seen. Thank God for the United States Marine Corps!"
Eleanor Roosevelt, First Lady of the United States, 1945
"Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world. But, the Marines don't have that problem. "
Ronald Reagan, President of the United States; 1985
"Marines I see as two breeds, Rottweilers or Dobermans, because Marines come in two varieties, big and mean, or skinny and mean. They're aggressive on the attack and tenacious on defense. They've got really short hair and they always go for the throat. "
RAdm. "Jay" R. Stark, USN; 10 November 1995
"The Marine Corps has just been called by the New York Times, 'The elite of this country.' I think it is the elite of the world."
Admiral William Halsey, U.S. Navy
"Being ready is not what matters. What matters is winning after you get there."
LtGen Victor H. Krulak, USMC

"You cannot exaggerate about the Marines. They are convinced to the point of arrogance, that they are the most ferocious fighters on earth- and the amusing thing about it is that they are. "
Father Kevin Keaney
1st Marine Division Chaplain
Korean War
"The deadliest weapon in the world is a Marine and his rifle."

LtGen Thomas Holcomb, USMC
Commandant of the Marine Corps, 1943
