(See ya later)
Niall blushed slightly. He stopped strumming his guitar, leaning against the doorway thoughtfully. "I over-reacted is all." And he had. Why did it matter that he had a crush on this girl? Everyone has crushes sometimes, and even if she didn't reciprocate the feelings they could stay friends. He offered her a genuine smile this time, the metaphorical clouds in his brain finally clearing. "So what are you making for lunch? I'll sing to you if you make me something too." He grinned, rushing past her, his guitar bumping against his back. Sure, maybe he was going a little crazy, but everyone in the house was. And shouldn't Mer get to know the real him?
(Eugh. I have no idea what that is... Awkward thought trains are awkward.)

“
When you are born,” the golem said
softly, “your courage is new and clean.
You are brave enough for anything:
crawling off of staircases, saying your
first words without fearing that someone
will think you are foolish, putting strange
things in your mouth. But as you get
older, your courage attracts gunk, and
crusty things, and dirt, and fear, and
knowing how bad things can get and
what pain feels like. By the time you’re
half-grown, your courage barely moves
at all, it’s so grunged up with living. So
every once in awhile, you have to scrub
it up and get the works going, or else
you’ll never be brave again.
