I flipped through the menu and came upon a meal where you could get a taco with rice and beans on the side. "I'm getting the taco that comes with the beans and rice." I told Thessaly. While we were waiting, a server came up to us and started us off with their signature chips and salsa. I ordered a cheese dip to go with the salsa and chips, and grinned a little excitedly at Thessaly. "Wait until you taste their cheese dip. It's amazing." I emphasized amazing, stretching out the word and chuckling afterwards.

I grinned at him. "Amazing," I echoed, smiling softly. Our food arrived shortly, and I took a small bite of my enchilada. "Mmm..." I said, my mouth watering.

I picked up my taco, putting some of the cheese dip inside and took a bite. Instantly I smiled at the good taste. Putting some salsa on the rice and beans, I was momentarily reminded of my mom, Nina, when she tried to teach my father John how to make tacos. I sighed lightly, trying not to show a sudden emotion of nostalgia. It had been eight years and I still missed my dad.

Noticing his change of attitude, I frowned softly. "Everything okay?" He seemed sad. I set down my fork and reached for for his hand, taking it in my own.

"My dad...he never could make tacos. My mom tried to show him how pretty regularly and he couldn't make them just like she did..." I tried to decide just how much to tell Thessaly about my father's passing. With the feeling of her hand on mine, warm and caring, I couldn't stop myself before I thought I'd said too much. "I remember the last supper he made for us, he got it perfect. But...then he became really sick...and..." I tried to meet Thessaly's eyes, but I felt so vulnerable. And so I just glanced down again at my taco, not feeling as hungry.

I gave Thessaly a small, meaningful smile, feeling better with her near. "It's okay...really. It happened eight years ago." I thought for a minute, and then met her eyes again. "You're a really kind girl, Thessaly. I hope you know that." I told her, sighing. But it wasn't a sad sigh...it was a happy sigh that she was beside me. "Could you just maybe stay sitting over here? Just bring your food over here...?" I questioned.

My cheeks turned a slight pink color, and I nodded, bringing my food around to where I was sitting.
