Taylor.
I flinch when he snaps in front of my face, and I look at him quickly before I ask my question. I nod to Samantha then, immediatly understanding that Joey was still hurt, and at the Hospital for a reason. so quickly, and without any delay,I stand up and ready myself to help Joey out of the room.
-------
Once we're in room 108, I pull out a chair for him and have him sit down, while I turn and lean up against the walll, furrowiing my brows, thinking of how it was so much easier when I told his dad. I exhale slowly, readying myself before I look over and lock my eyes with Joeys.
He needs to know. I think and reach over, squeezing a bruise to snap me back into reality.
Once Joey sat down, I start, and Idon't even think I'm breathing as I pour everything out to him, squeezing my eyes shut tightly as though I were trying to tell a story, but by the tears that ecape my eyes, it's clear this is as real as his accident.
I tell Joey absolutely everything, everything.
How my father left my mom when I was the only child.
How he came back to find I had a sister, but my mother had her in Day care so he couldn't get to her.
How my Father started to abuse my Mom when he was drunk, and how, soon after, when I was ten years old, my Mother grew gravely ill and needed to reside in the Hospital.
How I went on, caring for Ashe, meeting Joey, and acting as though there was nothing wrong in life, even though there was.
Every single time my Father returned, he beat me, and I was left to only scream silently, for fear that he would hurt me more if I were to tell.
I told Joey that this was why I never let him come over, because I was afraid of my Father popping in for one of his commonly random visits.
I told Joey how he came tonight, and was waiting for me. How that was why I was acting so strange when I left his truck, and why I couldn't answer his texts.
By this time I'm sobbing into my palm and snffling horribly.
But I keep going.
"I-I was so scared when he just lunged at me. He-He smashed my head into a table, and so, rather than running at that point, I curled into a tight ball to try and make it so that he couldn't hurt me too badly, but he kicked my arm just right, and with so much force that it just.. It must've broke. That's when I ran. I shoved him and got to my feet, barely noticing as I cast a glance to our ringing phone." I gasp in quickly,"Now I know it was your number, and-and... I just ran out.. Hopinh I could find you, ask to have AShley to stay at your house.. Joey, I was actually planning to go back.. UntilI saw your truck, and the ambulance and... And.." I gasp in before I keel over and start breathing quickly, sobbing,"I'm so sorry Joey! I'm sorry!"
I look p at him with a glassy, unfamiliar dull hazel gaze, slicked with tears as they ran down my soft cheeks.
"I told your Dad.. AndI.. ijust.. Please don't say anything about this to anyone Joey! Please! I'm afraid that if anyone else figure out, that he'll killl me, and then hurt Ashe instead!" I beg, and it was amazing how, even at this point, I was still scared for Ashleys safety over mine.
