Petra sat carefully, trying not to disturb Spartz whose claws were sunk lightly into her shoulder. "So where did you get Midnight?" she asked crossing her legs neatly.

Midnight pricked her ears when she heard her name but otherwise just lied down at Willow's feet. "We found her under the porch steps when she was a couple weeks old. Her collar was stuck to the splintered wood, and it didn't even give a number, just a name. Her original name was Night, but I thought it was too much of a name for a boy cat, so I called her Midnight. The porches wood isn't even fixed."

"Nice, Spartz was a shelter kitty," Petra said stoking his coat. She reached out to stroke Midnight. "Do you mind if I pet her?" she asked Willow.
