Running with scissors wasn't smart
I tripped and cut open your heart
I didn't mean to, but I seemed to
Have pushed us back to the startMickey had planned to meet Annie at the beach for a photo session, but he had somehow managed to get there before her. He figured that it was either because she had been caught helping out in the cafe, or her old little car was having trouble starting. Mckinley had opted for skating over, so not only did he have his camera around his neck, but his board was also laying upside down a few feet away from his current position. One eye was staring through the viewfinder in his camera, and right out the medium-length lens. He was capturing a shot of the shore, a panoramic, with the sun glistening off the water in blindingly bright speckles.
He pulled back a little and glanced at the image on the little digital screen before it disappeared; he wouldn't exactly know how it looked until he developed the film - he refused to go back and scroll through the pictures - which meant he'd be spending some time in his darkroom tonight, which was really okay by him. Mickey paid no mind to the randoms sprinkled about the beach; they were merely background noise.

It's hard to lay a golden egg with everyone around
It's hard to stay inside my head when words keep pouring out
Like starlight crashing through the room, we'll lose our feathers
Yes, I know it hurts at first but it gets betterAnnie was exasperated. Just as Mckinley had predicted, she had been caught on her way out of her house and through the parlor - her mistake, actually - and been forced to help for a little bit with a random pre-lunch rush their little cafe was experiencing. After that, when she'd gone out to her poor little VW Beetle and placed her camera on the passenger seat, she found that the ignition wouldn't turn over and her car wouldn't start. Mickey always teased her about it, but she realized that she should probably start listening to him, at least to some extent. As it turned out, the engine just needed a bit of coolant and some time to rest. Annie was able to leave within fifteen minutes, and got to the beach within twenty.
The only downside about a shoot on the beach was that she wouldn't be able to wear heels or wedges; she'd tried that before and it ended in a twisted ankle. So, she had to settle for jelly flats. The other downside to this was that she would most surely burn. Even she'd given herself a light dusting of SPF 50 sunscreen, there were few times that her fair skin didn't burn. She stood at the top of the beach, where sand met sidewalk, camera around her neck as her eyes searched for Mickey.
