"It's time!" Alec's step-father said clapping his hands getting everyones attention. "The way he said it makes it sound like a good thing," he whispered into Sydney's ear as he slowly stood up, wrapping his arm around her shoulders. "Remember I won't let you fall," he whispered to Sydney kissing her temple gently.

Sydney frowned at Alec's step-father and stood up with Alec. She nodded and smiled at the feel of his lips on her skin. She walked with him over to an empty seat in one of the pews and sat down next to him. She took a deep breath and looked at Alec, a faint smile on her face.

Alec watched Slater slide in next to him and whisper something to him quietly as people started filing in. He sighed softly, wrapping his arm around Sydney's arm. "If you get cold I've got my jacket," he told her quietly. He'd brought a jacket along with the suit jacket he was dying to take off and go change.

"Ok," Sydney replied. She leaned against his side and watched as everyone finally sat down. She wondered if Alec would get up and say something. He didn't look as if he would be able to.

Alec listened quietly as the preacher went on and on about something he wasn't really caring to listen to. The guy didn't know his mom, and never would. He sighed softly. All he wanted to do was curl up somewhere in a corner and just be left there for forever. Finally the preacher turned to Alec and called him up. He glanced at Sydney, eye's wide, confused. He stood up and slowly walked up to where the preacher stood muttering a few words to him.

Sydney watched Alec as he walked up to the preacher. She felt aweful for him. She wondered what the preacher had called him up for. She remembered that at her dad's funeral, she had just stood in the back, watching everything. She had only been thirteen. She waited to see what Alec would do, nervous

Alec's eyes widened as he stepped back-wards and walked up to the podium glancing over at Slater. He moved his hair out of his eyes and slowly started talking about his mother. He was glad that there was a microphone because without it there would be no way the people here would be able to hear him.

Sydney listened to him talk, sad for him. He sounded as if he could barely get the words out. She made eye contact with him and gave him a reassuring smile, letting him know that it was going to be alright.

Alec gave her a small sad smile before continuing. He was relieved when Slater got up to come save him and brushed past him whispering to him that he had nerve to get up there. He smirked slightly and sat down next to Sydney listening to Slater share funny stories.

Once Alec was eated again, she reached for his hand and gave it a gentle squeeze. "You did great," she whispered, smiling at him. She leaned against him and sighed, not letting go of his hand
