Ever grinned a little bit when Michael was cut off by the doctor.
"Alright Everlyn-" She winced at the sound of her full name. "I believe what's causing all of this fatigue is stress or not eating enough. Do you do any sports?" He said, already knowing the answer.
"I have a track race coming up," Ever said, coughing a little bit.
"Yeah, you're probably going to have to skip that. No dance or soccer for a couple of weeks, either, okay?"
Ever's jaw dropped. No sports... for a week? Or more?
"No way!" She screamed. "There's no possible way you could make me do that!"
"Yes, there is. I'm sorry, but it's for your own health. I'm going to prescribe you some medicine." He said, jotting down something on his clipboard.
"I'll call your mom and dad-" Ever cut him off. "Aunt," She corrected him, tears filling her eyes. "She's my aunt."
Ever hated the words mom and dad. Such ugly, short words. Hideous words. She buried her face into her pillow and allowed herself to silently cry. She hasn't done that in a long time, after all.
