*Aurora woke at Fae's shout. She scrambled out of the tent and raced out
to Rayne. She didn't stop to saddle her horse, but grabbed the heavy saddle,
saddlebags and all, and leaped onto Rayne. She laid the saddle half in her
lap and half over Rayne's back. She whistled for Firnen and jammed her
heels into Rayne's side. The horse set off in a gallop, the whites of her eyes
showing. "Mor'ranr," Aurora whispered in their language, and Rayne calmed
somewhat, though she kept her frantic pace. Firnen burst out of the canopy
and settled on Rayne's neck, his presence calming the frightened mare even
more. Soon they came out of the woods and, jumping a fallen log, arrived
on the lake beach. "Letta," Aurora commanded, and Rayne obediently halted,
prancing a little, her sides heaving from their frantic run. Aurora dropped
her saddle to the ground, glad that she hadn't unpacked the saddlebags, and
dismounted. "Now what?" she asked Fae.*
