Kestral Castle - Accepting

(*cough*Ella'sdrowning*cough*)

Ella opened her mouth, tryign to scream for help as she waved her limbs frantically. However, water was forced down her throat, making her cough. The pressure of the water on her lungs built and built as she sank, thrashing in vain. She tried to push the water underneath her, to rise, and broke the surface. Suddenly, her ears were flooded with noises, and her eyes were sealed shut by water. She opened her eyes for a few
moments of blurred shapes and colors, sending up white tentacles of frothy water with her hands. She coughed up water and felt weight lifting off her chest as she drew in a breath of precious air and screamed again with some of the little strength that was left in her. But, she soon sank below the paper-thin surface, the water pressing down on her eyes as she looked up and saw the dancing lines of light on the water's surface.

Henry finished up the last of the rool and decided he would go out for a quick breath of fresh air. He fought his way through the crowd and found the exit of the dining hall. He walked down a corridor to the castle entrance. It didn't take him long after wandering outside to see bubbles quickly rising from the pond ( I think it's a pond. ) Puzzled, he walked closer to it and leaned over, seeing very vaguely arms thrashing beneath the surface. His eyes widened as he put two and two together. He was quick to reach in and grab one of the thrashing limbs, pulling up the lightweight figure with ease before he sat the soaked young girl on the ground. She was obviously not from around the castle. He held firmly onto her arm for that reason, but only looked at her. "Are you alright?" he asked. She was just a young girl and there was no need to be harsh. Only with a man would he be more stiff.

Ella jerked her arm away, rather rudely, but she was cold in the air, which was crisp with the coming of the evening. She tucked her knees up under her chin and wrapped her arms around them, "Yes" she chattered. Her skin was pale with cold, and the fine hair on her arms bristled with goosebumps. Her hair stuck to her head and neck like it was glued on, and her clothes clung to her uncomfortably aswell. Her eyes were wild, looking fro a way to escape. She didn't' really want to be here anymore, all the lords and ladies gathered by the gates were staring at the young girl who had fallen clumsily into the pond. Even the one with the lovely dress who had nealry tripped over the rock was agast.

Sadie

Sadie walked out of the castle, in her usual attire, the blue lacy dress under her arm. On her way to the stables she saw a young man and a sopping wet girl. As sadie got closer, she recognized henry and blushed slightly. She then saw how cold the girl was, and offered her her own thread-bear jacket which was under her arm. Even though it was quite a warm night, she knew kids could get cold easier then adults. Well, usually that was the case. "Here." sadie said gently, reaching out her arm to the girl, the jacket in her hand. She then turned on Henry. He had totally forgotten about her, hadn't he? She snorted, and kicked at a rock, watching the girl.

Ella tried not to snatch the jacket, but took it quite roughly anyways, "Thank you" she said, glancing at the black-haired woman before pulling the jacket around her by the sleeves, holding them together at the front. Darkness was starting to cloud the air, and she pulled her legs up tighter to her chest, gritting her teeth. Hopefully she could find somewhere warm to sleep. She wanted to stand up, but knew she would regret it once the cold got to her. She felt rather belittled, with the two adults looming over, even with the concerned expressions that shone clearly in their eyes. She wasn't some sort of baby, who needed to constantly be watched, lest they crawl out the door and get trampled by a passing horse.

It seemed obvious she hadn't swallowed any water as she was not coughing any water up, but her claim to be fine was obviously a lie. Henry could see how pale the girl's face was, her purple lips and icy water dripping off of her skin lined with goosebumps. Her clothes clung to her like tight skin, practically pouring water into a large puddle around her. He couldn't just let her go in that state despite the fact that she looked wild with a desire to run away. He was about to stand when Sadie seemed to almost suddenly appear, handing the girl her jacket. He didn't say a word to her and only took the soaked girl by her arm again, looking around at all of the royals staring at her like she was some sort of rabid beast. He didn't have the right to say anything to them. He stood up from his crouched position, pulling the huddled girl up with him. "You're in no condition to return to your home, wherever that is. You'll freeze to death if you're this cold," he said, not risking letting go of the skinny girl. "You should at least get dried off," he said before finally coming up with something to say to Sadie. "You might want to come with us to dry off your jacket," he said almost awkwardly. He got the impression that she liked him and he was a little uncomfortable with that. Tugging on the girl's arm gently, he led her towards the entrance castle. "You showed up here uninvited so I assume you don't mind me taking you inside to find a towel to dry you," he said, not being cruel, but scolding her a bit for being there without an invitation. The way he was going to take her, chances were no one would see her.

Sadie

She cocked her head slightly, and backed up a step. Sadie's house in the middle of town wasn't to big, but she was pretty sure it could hold a 12-14 year old girl for the night. "Do you have a place to stay?" She asked crisply, looking at Henry out of the corner of her eye. Sadie followed him and the girl in; -she still didn't know her name- thinking now that she had stumbled upon them she might as well be useful.

Several options ran through Ella's mind as she slowly stood up, biting her lip. She could punch the man in the face and run away... Or cause some other distraction and run away. Or just run away. yet, she thought none of those would gain his favor if she ever came upon him in the future. It would probably be best to go with him. After all, it couldn't' hurt to get warm and dry. Her eyes darted from the royal crowd to him to the woman down to her feet, "Well.. I'll go with you. I suppose" she finally managed to utter. She took off the jacket and gave it back to Sadie, "Thank you for lending me it" she said, figuring proper etiquette may make the lords and ladies go back to their business. She didn't like feeling like she was trapped in a box of accusing eyes. Her bare toes were starting to feel numb in the cold grass, and water was dripping down her legs in ice-cold trickles. She looked up as Sadie asked her if she had somewhere to stay. She didn't look like a lady or a princess, in fact, she looked more like a servant or a farmer. She shook her head slowly, hoping this wouldn't get her into too much of a mess. She was sure she would get into one, but she'd escape anyways.

Sadie

Sadie nodded slowly. "Alright... are you sure?" Sadie asked, she could tell the girl was more of the independant type; just like her kid sister, Flora. Flora had died of typhoid years ago, the girls had both been recruited to work for the same farmer years back; Sadie had come when she was five, and then Flora had come a year later when she was but a baby. Flora would have been twenty two now... the memories hurt and Sadie blinked slightly, her eyes tearing up. She brushed them away with her hand. "Ok." Sadie said, deciding it would be hard to persuade this girl into coming with her.
