───────────────── AKARI ✯ ──
role japanese heiress mentioned eliza, noi, theo, amelie
ring, ring, ring...
akari glanced at her phone, stopping the alarm that had popped up on the screen. tossing it on to her bed, she resumed her makeup, smiling for what felt like the hundredth time in the last hour. she had woken up early that morning, long before she had set her alarm for, but nervous excitement had it's hold on her; she had gotten out of bed and practically danced around her room. akari had calmed herself since then, but she still hummed a song to herself happily (and extremely out of tune) as she finished off her minimal makeup look for the day. she threw the makeup bag into her last open suitcase, cringing at the clothes surrounding it, still waiting to be packed up and ready to go. she didn't want to be late, so akari sighed, before getting to work on stuffing in the rest of the miles of clothing she had. once she was done, she wheeled each of the suitcases she had brought over to stand next to her door, grinning. her cousin, dai, had said she was ridiculous for bringing four suitcases for only eight weeks, but akari was intense when it came to her fashion sense, and if there was a chance that she could go the entire trip without re-wearing something, she was going to take it.
the outfit akari had planned for that day hung from the closet door; she smirked at it as it caught her eye. everywhere she went, she liked to make a statement, and today was no different. the dress was tight and a bright red, reaching to just above her knee; its strapless sweetheart neckline let her throw on an attention-drawing necklace, a small waterfall of precious diamonds that felt cool against her skin. her pump heels were the same vivid red as the dress, and once akari had the entire outfit on, the temptation to dramatize her makeup look was growing on her. eventually, she convinced herself, and a minute later, she posed in the mirror, pursing her cherry lips in satisfaction before yet again breaking into a large, pearl-white smile. no matter how hard she tried, it just kept coming back to her face despite her efforts to relax.
a knock at her hotel room door startled her; she tucked the lipstick into her small black handbag, before going over to the door and opening it. a man in a suit stood outside; he bowed deeply before clearing his throat. "your car is outside and ready to leave for the house, ma'am. if you'll allow me..." he gestured to akari's suitcases, and she stood back to let him into the room. she followed him out as he exited, her heels clicking on the marble floor as they headed towards the elevator. though akari had mentioned that she was only going to be staying at the hotel for one night, her parents had insisted on finding the finest hotel they could in the area. she hadn't minded, but the thought amused her slightly, as she passed by a marble statue.
the air was crisp as akari left the building, stinging her bare skin slightly, but she didn't mind - besides, it was looking to be a fine day, so she wasn't particularly worried. the man was loading her suitcases into the back of the cream white limousine in front of her as she stared at the city, which was in the opposite direction to where she knew they were headed. the sight made her think of japan; the bustling streets and the lights and the food and the fashion. while she had explored a bit of the city in britain the previous day, it didn't seem to have the same fresh feel that her home did. she couldn't explain it, but she already felt a bit homesick, which she found depressing. not in the mood to be sad, she shook herself out of her thoughts, and instead brought herself back to the giddy excitement that had filled her since she had woken. she thanked the man after he opened the backseat door for her, before sliding in with ease, biting back a smile at the clean white leather seats. a few moments later, the car pulled out of the driveway, and what had been left of the city fell into peaceful landscape.
akari drank in the sight of the estate with pleasure, gazing at the lush gardens that were filled with bright colours and pretty textures. she couldn't help noticing things like that, always finding things to be inspired by, things that made her want to create.
as they drove closer to the house, akari spotted a few of the other heirs that had arrived just before her, heading up the steps to the front door. her own car finally pulled up outside; she had chatted off the driver's ear the entire ride, and she was only now realizing that he probably couldn't care less about whether pink velvet went better with gold or silver accessories. chuckling to herself slightly, she exited the car after he opened the door for her, and instantly, she headed towards the other heirs grouping up outside the front door. her stride was purposeful, until the sound of noi's voice stopped her in her tracks; she somehow hadn't noticed him, or processed that he was there, because her heart clanged painfully in her chest as the click of her heels fell silent for a second, her step faltering. her confidence fell slightly, her throat tightening, but she inhaled and exhaled, trying not to let the tears that wanted to come to her eyes succeed. it was stupid; they had ended ages ago, but it still hurt to see him in person again. it took a few moments, but she returned to as close to normal as she was going to get; akari pulled herself together, and continued making her way to the group.
she seemed to have just missed a joke, because the blonde girl, who akari recognised as the french heiress, was laughing lightly at something just said. the girl's warm smile made akari feel more welcome as she approached; making sure to steer around noi as politely as possible, she ended up next to amélie, if akari's memory gave the french heiress' name correctly. while she had planned to make a more dramatic entrance, a bit of her self-esteem had been lost at the sight of her ex, so instead, she decided to wait to see what came next. luckily, the moment arrived sooner rather than later, as the door burst open behind them; a grin made its way on to akari's face at eliza's appearance, internally approving of the display, as it was the type of thing akari would definitely do. she waited patiently at the side as eliza hugged amélie and addressed theo; akari's observational skills could immediately tell that something had occurred between eliza and theodore. while she could tend to fall out of the loop when it came to the other heirs, akari knew the two had been besties; and besties didn't talk to each other like that. she kept her mouth shut though, not wanting to start drama on their first day there. she was sure they weren't the only ones with some issues; akari had problems of her own that she would have to face, too. she could definitely understand the pressure between the other two, though she hoped they would be able to make up, because she wasn't certain she would able to handle tension from the other's relationships, on top of her own.
───────────────── AMELIE ♕ ──
role french heiress mentioned eliza, noi, theo, akari
amélie turned at the sound of a voice speaking to her. she found theodore, the south african heir, behind her, his face seeming tense though his tone was polite and friendly enough. she smiled back at him courteously, before noticing him struggling with his suitcases. "oh, let me help you with that!" amélie interrupted, grabbing the handle on one of the suitcases and pulling it up the last few steps in front of the house. she chuckled lightly, brushing the hair out of her face before turning to theo again. "you are correct," she stated, grinning. "i'm amélie. and you are theodore, heir of south africa?" if theo answered, she didn't hear, as a loud voice boomed from behind them, another heir approaching them making amélie jump. she turned to see the heir of the united states, noi, striding up to them in his usual confident manner. while she wasn't completely familiar with him, amélie could remember the other times they had met; noi's coolness never seemed to falter. she found it rather impressive, if she was being honest.
after processing his question, amélie chuckled at the bluntness of the question. to be completely truthful, she still wasn't sure if she was ready, but she had to be, didn't she? she was standing outside the door to the british house. she didn't really have much choice.
the japanese heiress, akari, approached a few moments after noi; amélie offered her a friendly smile, despite not knowing the other very well. whatever may have occurred next was interrupted, as the door opened behind them; amélie turned to see eliza stride out, looking as put-together as always. amélie's grin grew wider at the sight of her old friend; she approached the other heiress immediately, accepting her hug with happiness. eliza's words warmed her heart, relief instantly making amélie feel more comfortable with the entire situation. "you too," she replied cheerfully, her cheeks rosy. she waited patiently while eliza addressed the others, before happily following the heiress inside her house.
