Virus from CS

Postby xChry. » Thu Jan 12, 2012 11:07 am

I got a horrible virus from Cs. Our computer is currently wiped and will not turn on even if plugged to a charger. Before the virus hit full affect we did our monthly vius check, and saw the virus came directly from this site. We were going to have someone come out and fix the comp before the virus hit full effet but it was too late.
I was wondering if you could check your sute for anything?
Bw im on my ipod so sorry for any typos.

I'm not sure if it's from CS, but I've been having major problems with viruses lately. Maybe it's from the ads? :/

Chicken Smoothie can not gve you a virus so if you do, it's from the adds as -Kaley- said.

    I dont click ads or links, I am very OCD about what I click. Plus, the detecter says it comes directly from Cs so I dont see how it could come from something else.
    I just need to see if Nick will double check the site, just in case. You never know. /:

    I think even if you don't click them, they can give you a virus. (I've only clicked one of the ads, but that was for Howrse.) Now that I have a security program on my computer, it will sometimes redirect me away to protect my computer for some ads. I'm not a virus expert though. :roll:

    However, Google ads might have some times them, and that means CS ain't really anymore unsafe site than others that have Google ads. ^^;

    More info that might come in handy;

    It'll be the adverts, it sounds like there is a couple of infected adverts being served by Google recently. Unfortunately, everybody gets different adverts, and we can't review ads before they appear on the site. Google'll likely detect and remove those soon. If you can get information from your antivirus alert about what site the ad is coming from, we can report it to Google to get it fixed. I can see several forums around the web at the moment reporting this same problem.

    In the meantime, be aware that if you have old versions of plugins like Flash, they can have security holes which can allow viruses to be installed. So please be sure to update your Flash http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

    If you don't already have an antivirus program installed, consider the free Microsoft Security Essentials: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/wind ... essentials. it works really well and it's a quick download.

    You can also use an ad blocker plugin on your browser. :3 You just have to find it.

    As far as adblockers go I'd reccomend the firefox one, although the chrome one is decent. You don't need to click on ads to get viruses from them, unfortunately. Some start their work right away without you needing to visit their site. Google does, unfortunately host infected ads, so any site which uses google to power its ads could be a risk without adblocker on. If a virus starts its course I reccomend shutting off all power to the computer right away. You'll want to start it back up in safe mode if you can, and then run a scan.
    I'm hoping you have backup disks and antivirus software because those are ALWAYS important.
    That was kinda rambly, but I hope it helped anyways.
