people have been saying that December 18 of this year (2011) is re-release day. is this true? and what is 're-release' day?

Older pets are "re-released."
Long story short, there is a possible chance of you getting an '08 VR, Unreleased pet, anything rare.

I believe you can adopt 2 that day, I got 2 pets from it last year.

For a few years now, on the 18th of December they have put up a gift box (it's part of advent calendar) where you get two random previously released pets (rarity ranging from uncommon to OMG so rare), or you might get an unreleased pet. Last year there was also a re-release box for Malk Pets, no idea if there will be one this year.

It's not really a day in its own right as such.

During our christmas advent, on he 18th of December for the last few years running, a special box is released with a selection of past pets, of any rarity, which you get given at random. Usually you can only adopt twice. You could end up getting something not so valuable.. or something very valuable.

It is also sadly probably the day of the year when most of the cheaters crawl out of the woodwork. The pound usually gets a nice healthy restock of cheater pets. So my advice is don't bother joining them, and losing all your pets, for the sake of 2 pets. :p

have you ever gotten an advent calendar on Christmas? where it has like chocolate and you open the spot with the date on it. then on Christmas you get like a bug peice of chocolate or something idk.
