adoptables; not working!!

I'm trying to make an adoptable for some one but it's not working! I've already made the original drawing and I did what a bunch of people have told me to do so i kinda know what to do. my problem is I'm trying to color in the adoptable for the person but it won't let me color!! I chose a color but when I tried to color in the pic nothing happened!! it wouldn't color anything!! do I have to do something to make it color? or what?

Is this on the Oekaki?
If so, are you under a layer that has already ben colored on? or is the picture (besides the drawing) transparent?
I had this problem, come to find out my laptop was so slow, it couldn't handle the time & space to draw...I fixed it now :l

Hmm...Is the background Transparent? (when you go to edit, can you see the light/dark gray squares behind the image?)
Otherwise, I'm not so sure. When you edit, if the background is white, try erasing the white on where you want to color, otherwise, Im not so sure :S

I tried erasing but it didn't work either. anything else you think would work?

May I say something? Did you check the Lock Alpha box? if you did, trying unchecking it. Try that out, see if it helps, if it doesn't, post again ^^

um... where do I go to lock/unlock alpha?

You find the Lock Alpha option in the layer-box (in the bottom-right corner on the oekaki screen). Just above the different layers there says Lock Alpha, check/uncheck the little box next to the words.
