Colouring Oekaki

Postby sunflower. » Tue Aug 30, 2011 9:32 pm

Uhm ... I have a problem. I want to colour in a picture, but it's already coloured in by someone. When I say ColourMeIn then it's not just the lines, but the colour too. I don't know how to remove the colour, and when I erase it, there's this kind of blockish effect. How can I erase the colour and put in another colour?

I hope you understand!

You mean how it's coloured already black? It's supposed to be so, to help you with colouring. :]
See, when you click Lock Alpha, it will only let you colour areas that are already coloured - so you just colour over the old colours, without going out of the lines! :] You're supposed to colour the wolf either on the layer "Male Color" or "Female Color" (you choose which gender.)
The "blockish effect" you're talking about... I'm not sure, but might you mean transparency? When there's nothing on a layer, the transparency is shown with white/gray checkpattern.

Sorry if this was confusing, and feel free to ask for clarification or anything. ^^;

Hmmm another problem ... Now that I've found the Alpha Lock, there are many things I can choose from. Will you please explain them to me?

What do you mean by 'things'? Do you mean the little drop-down bar just above the Lock Alpha button or what exactly?

Uhm, well, the place where it says "Sample All Layers". And what do I do once I click "Lock Alpha"?

Lock Alpha lets you only colour areas which are already coloured - it won't let you erase anything either. You first have to make an area you want to colour and then lock alpha. :]

EDIT:// corrected this bit slightly :3
"Sample All Layers"... Hmm, my explanation will probably be odd, but I'll try.
See how there are blender and "finger" tools? Normally those won't work on empty layers and you have to use them straight on the layer where you've drawn your picture, but when you click the "Sample all layers", you can use those effects on new, "blank" layer, meaning, you don't have to touch the original image and you can adjust the opacity of those effects, or just easily remove the effects if you're not happy with them. :] If this sounds unclear I could try to make a few screenshots of it.
