Also, it shows people who have hidden their online status. I don't know why PHPBB does that, though Tess is never shown.....

Just adding that I'm having this problem as well -- "769" people online.

I imagine it has something to do with cleaning up after the Medieval Faire.

It would be wonderful if the mods could possibly fix this asap (I'm sure you're trying, but just adding my two cents). Otherwise I don't know who's best to trade with and that is making me a sad chicken.
