Chibi paint/Oekaki acting extremely slow *fixed*

Postby .Fluffy. » Fri Aug 05, 2011 9:16 am

I get on oekaki from time to time and its never been a problem. Though today i got on and it was so slow that its nearly impossible to draw anything. Slow may not be the best way to describe it, its delayed maybe?
I use google chrome if that means anything

I tried to fix it myself several ways but none of them worked. :<
1. By deleting history, cookies, cache, etc. this made it speed up a little bit but then it slowed down in less then a minute again
2. restarting my computer.. thinking i might of had something in the background interfering with it.. this did nothing to help
3. unpluging my internet as soon as everything finished loading on chibi paint . It did nothing to help either.

I was wondering if it is a problem with anyone else and/or maybe any way to fix the slowness.
I really love the Oekaki :D

Thank you,
.Fluffy.

What web browser do you use? Do you have the latest version of Java? Is javascript enabled?

That's all I can say.....

Do you mean how the line follows a few seconds after you've actually made the movement for the stroke?
Do you have many programs open when you draw on oekaki? That could slow it down.
I have that problem sometimes as well, I think it's more about your computer than the internet connection.

My java is up to date and I use google chrome as stated.

@Tuike Yeah, that's what i mean. It use to be a minor problem but now it is a lot more delayed/slow. I try to keep just my browser up while i draw. I was thinking that it was more of a computer problem also, but i'm not sure why would become this slow all of the sudden.

Hmm, I did a quick search, and I suggest you try to clean out your computer a little. Apparently if the hard drive is almost full, it can slow down the computer and programs too.
One other thing could be a virus, so run a virus scan too.

I have seen this problem during testing (very slow line drawing), but I was never able to figure out what caused it exactly. Probably what happens is that the Oekaki puts down a blotch of paint over and over again in the same spot while you draw the line, even though it doesn't need to, which takes a very long time. That could be due to your mouse sending unusual movement commands to the Oekaki (which the Oekaki really should be ignoring, this is a bug). If you're using a tablet, try installing JTablet:

You could also try updating Java to the latest version:

I installed JTablet, Oekaki worked like new, and it was fastest I've ever seen it. Thank you, Nick, for the solution to my problem.

That's great news. Are you using a graphics tablet to draw? If not, I've definitely got a bug to fix :)
