New CS Trades/Adoptions system

I thought about new cs trades/adoptions system, something instead this section. I created even pictures, which presents that new system.

I know, maybe that will be not easy to introduce, but... this only idea What do you think about it?

I think it's good, it's very good It will be more simple than trade system, which is now. It can be really hard to introduction, but in my mind Tess and Nick are very patent for new ideas.

I'm not sure how something that graphics heavy would help with the lag. I know that I like being able to just punch in IDs or choose to browse because sometimes the lag is too bad for me.

I like the idea in theory, however I worry about the amount of lag it would cause as well as the amount of coding Nick would need to do.

Yeah, as if there isn't enough lag with tons of users anyway. And yeah, it would mean Nick would have to work heaps hard. Other than that, it's a good idea and if only there was some way to sort of make it go poof and appear.

I really like this idea, it would be extremely helpful. You did a fabulous job on the images too! ^^ But I'd have to agree with others on the fact that it would take a lot of work to code and it would put a lot of strain on the already laggy server...

Perhaps this would be a good thing to do once Tess is somehow able to upgrade the current server, sometime in the future. But for the moment, I don't know if it's possible without killing the site.

I really do like this idea though.

Yes, I agree with you that it would take a lot of work to code and would slow the server... But I'm glad that you like this idea

It does introduce two different interfaces for what are essentially the same thing (giving pets and asking nothing in return, giving pets in both directions). If these two things behave in the same way, there's no reason to introduce differences in the interface.

The preview of trades looks really cool, but we can't automatically zoom in on the pet's faces, and just scaling the whole pet image would not really give a useful preview.

I agree with image lag though.

Nick: You could use the automate batch thing in Photoshop, but since the pets are different sizes (what with different ear types etc) some may come out better than others.

Anyway an alternative could be to assign and use official dog names, to make searching trade/adoption threads easier.
A system were you make an offer by selecting a pet from a drop-down menu (would need a few cos too many pets! order by species & month perhaps) would be neat.

Sounds like a lot of work for Nick though. You are awesome and have done heaps already Nick, what with the new trade system and everything else ^.^
