I don't like the CS Spiders. They scare me.
But I have a couple of friends who like them. Would it be okay if I adopted the spiders and gave them to them, or would that be considered cheating? If I could, would I need to ask for something in return?

No, that's fine. It only is considered cheating if your account is only to give them pets. If you have pets on your account from previous months, you should be fine.
