How’re you guys getting the rare pets?

I’m brand new, so I understand if I’m doing forums wrong. Just curious, is it a “just play and you’ll get them all” type game or is it events only? are there limited edition pets, and are there easy ways to get virtual site credits? I haven’t explored the whole site, so if this is obvious you’re welcome to clown on me /lighthearted

Hi there! Welcome to the site, I'm rather new too and it was daunting at the start for me too, allow me to give my 2 cents

For the rare pets of previous releases, you could get it from trading up (giving away a higher number of lower rarity pets for higher ones e.g. 2 commons = 1 uncommon etc - but do note the different preferences for people's trading rules such as a 2020 uncommon being more valued than a 2025 uncommon which may need example 8x 2025 common pets for 1x 2020 uncommon etc).

Alternatively, it is the monthly adopted pets that may become a higher rarity based on chance. And finally, you could check out the Free Adoption forum where many kind and lovely people are offering some of their pets for players like my partner! (Forum/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=5109686)

There are limited edition pets in the sense that they are tagged as "UR" and Dec 18 is a big day where you can get rare pets that day as a re-release. Guide for CS Rarity: Forum/viewtopic.php?f=135&t=4201164

And for C$ the game's virtual site credits can either be bought with real currency or from trading pets/items for C$ which is valued based on rarity and demand (do note that there is currently an ongoing change in how this is being term based on recent annoucements).

I would like to add a point about Pound. There is a a pound/lost and found buttom at the Adopt menu. Use it! For example next pound will be within 30 mins. This is the great chance to get pets/items of previous years every day, remember to check the announcements on the page. Good luck!

Don’t forget the make a wishlist of your favorite pets in the archives! It makes it easier for people to trade you and know what you like! Everyone is really nice, and are very generous to newcomers! I hope you enjoy and it’s community cs!

I don't think anyone in this thread has mentioned events yet? CS's three big "events" are the Easter event (falls around Easter), the Summer event (happens sometime during the summer), and the Halloween event (falls during the leadup to Halloween). During these events, banners will have a chance to appear at the bottom of each page on CS, and clicking a banner will give you one event token. You can trade in these events tokens for pets and items. Pets from these events tend to be of a higher rarity as people have to actively gain the currency to trade for them rather than being able to simply adopt them.

There's also a holiday event during December, but this has daily pet adoptions rather than the token system so it doesn't have the same high chance of obtaining rarer pets.
