Why so many "guests"?

This morning I saw:
"In total there are 608 users online :: 135 registered, 49 hidden and 424 guests".

Are these 70% guest users online bots?
Maybe they are people who logged out but left CS window open.

Nick made a statement about this. They're AI scrapers and they keep getting lost in the archives or some other places
