Will there be a rarity update again?

hi friends! I have been wondering if there will be a rarity update again this year (2024)? Does this happen every year and am I just now realizing? Is there a specific date or month that this usually happens? Or was the mass rarity update of 2023 just a one time thing when they changed the value system?
Obviously values go up the older pets get, but does their "gauge" change?

I assume the massive rarity updates are a very infrequent thing. There was another rarity overhaul in 2019(?) but it was not as major as the recent one. Rarities do update every month, but its mostly for new pets. Sometimes other pets rarity will change slightly during that too. Because the last mass rarity update was so recent, I doubt they'll be a another big one this year!

Unless it comes to light that there is some serious issue with pet rarities as they are now there wouldn't be any need to update them again this year. We've only had 3 major rarity updates in the sites history, 2012, 2019, and 2023. All 3 times it was done was to ensure better pet distribution across the rarities. Since rarities fluctuate depending on the total number of available pets per active account, it seems to cause pets to get concentrated in certain rarities and not others over time so an occasional re-balance is necessary. The process is slow though, while I'm sure it could be done every year, there isn't really any need to do so as the changes from just one year would be pretty minor.
