Help Out Japan?

Postby moonlight43 » Sat Mar 12, 2011 11:38 am

Hi y'all. Uh, so I was thinking, maybe we could help out Japan, they really need it after the tsunami. So! I came up with an idea we could do to pitch in! :D
So, my idea was that every cent that the site gets from people buying chicken dollars for say a month (If y'all can come up with a better time period, please say so) and donate it all to help Japan.
So, yeah, what do y'all think? :)

I think it's a pretty good idea! I'm not sure what Tess would say, because CS needs profits also! :D

I'd prefer that anyone who has funds to donate to this cause gives their money directly to a major charity like Red Cross. For every payment we receive (for C$), we lose some of the money to paypal transaction fees (and an even larger percentage in transaction fees for those using 'Pay Near Me'). Even if we forward the entire remainder to Red Cross, there's already money wasted.

While it would be nice to be able to 'reward' donations with some CS content, it would be a roundabout way of us (and Paypal/PayNearMe) taking more money away from where it really counts. If you're serious about helping Japan, cut out any idea of a CS 'middle man' and donate here: http://american.redcross.org/site/PageS ... gRedButton
or whatever your preferred humanitarian aid group is

or if you don't have access to paypal/credit card, I'm sure they will set up donation points in your local shopping areas in the coming days
