Hello! Basically, a true date is a pet that was adopted when that pet was first released. Every December 18th, users are given the opportunity to adopt pets that were released in the past, so you can end up with a 2014 pet that was adopted in 2022!

For example, this dog was originally released in September 2009.

I have one of these dogs that was adopted in 2009. He is a true date because he was adopted when this pet was originally released.

Pet's name: Owen

I also have one of these dogs that was adopted in 2015, on December 18th. He is considered a re-release.

In reality there is no difference with the pets, they're identical apart from the date! Some people pay more for true date pets, as they are often harder to come across and desired for some collections, however not everyone will pay extra. As I said, the pets are identical ^^ It comes down to personal preference. Hope this helped!
