Weird Pet Date?

My friend has a sitting cat that was adopted on March 16th 2010 but in the Archives it says that the cat was released in February 2009. We both don't understand why the date on the pet is wrong. Was there some event that happened in March 2010 that re-released old pets similar to December 18th pets?

The reason the date doesn't line up with the archive is because this cat was one of the many sitting cats that had an extended release. They were available to adopt until April 2010!
