Where does C$ from the store go?

Like the title says. I assume it goes to the items/pets respective artists, but maybe it just... disappears like event tokens traded to NPCs? Wasn't sure if this belongs in questions, my apologies if it does!

I am almost certain that the c$ just disappears and does not go to any artists. That way, the economy will not overflow with c$ and become valueless. (Inflation) If it stayed in circulation, there would be more and more c$ until it became valueless.
